Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 An unblemished ERA after 11 innings. Thirteen strikeouts and just two walks.I'm trying to figure out how much I believe in him. Is he a Diamondback diamond in the rough, or is he Guillermo Mota, and just waiting for the post-season to blow up?Unlike other bullpen additions, like Clippy and O'Herlihy, Mets control him for two more years.A non-descript hairstyle... no tatts... what kind of late-inning reliever is that?

TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I trust him as much as Clippard right now. I think he could be a valuable tool in the pen for the next couple of years.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 (edited) Tough to figure Reed [lather rinse and repeat for just about all relievers]He was a 'Certified Closer' for two seasons with the White Sox [29 & 40 Saves] and then one w/Arizona (32 Saves) but maintained ERAs of around 4.00 during those years with WHiPs that were kind of ordinary as well. Not that those numbers tell-all with a closer but overall he seemed kind of average-ish at best.Early this year he blew a few saves and by May they had taken his closer's ID card away from him and his K, BB, & HR numbers were all going the wrong way - although you figure that maybe the HRs are connected to the park. He'll be merely arg-eligible this winter meaning that, with Clippard a FA, Mejia out of the picture, and Parnell iffy at best, he's at least a decent bet to think about for set-up man next year.
