And I don't like it, but I'll take it.I know the press will say we're limping in, and it could be we will be, but if we get in, we get in. At this point, one thing they cannot do, because it would be devastating, is not get in. Right now I don't care how it happens.Just happen already.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 ...and Freeman didn't even start this game.

There was a well-observed moment of silence before the game, and a long montage between innings (the source of the above graphic).

Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Seems like only a week or so ago when being down 6-3 in the 9th would just mean the Mets would have a dramatic walk-off. I miss those days.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I vote that The Hollies and Spanish IGT thread titles arebanned until the division is secured.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 They had midgame chances. They didn't take the chances. It came back to bite them. The Mets succumbed to an inferior bullpen. An exhausted Mets pen gave up the ghost. Can we make any more team-energizing trades at this point?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 23, 2015 Author Posted September 23, 2015 First losing homestand of the year at a terrible time. The Hollies have totally disappointed me.Hey, Terry, man, what's your game now? Can anybody play?

Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Exterminate! EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!Click for translation: =#BF0040]kill, KILL, KILL!Nicely done! Sadly, it seems that the Mets' offense is the only thing that's been exterminated.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I was really thinking that Bartolo was going to go nine and give the bullpen a day off. That's not at all likely to happen tomorrow with Matz.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Maybe KILL KILL KILL has run its course. Should we try SURVIVE SURVIVE SURVIVE?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Well, we can look at it this way: - It was a really bad home-stand where our lead went from 9.5 games down to 6.5 ... - on the other hand, the magic number dropped from 11 to 5 over that same span and the NHOP, the pct of remaining games that need to go our way, dropped from around 29% to below 22%The advantage to building a big lead is that you still have [u:1vrftzis]A[/u:1vrftzis] lead remaining even after you suck for a spell.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I mean, what will energize this team is the playoffs. They're slumping but the games mean little. Magic number's 5, the Mets might not even need to win another game. They had some hard hit balls at people, Braves had some bleeders that just found grass. Happens. It was nice to see the crowd at Citi into the game though. That's new.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I probably walked 5 miles tonight. kept circling the stadium except when I was buying food and drink.

Nice, engaged-but-festive vibe... at least through 6.even in the 9th a few people tried to start a Lets Go Mets chant instead of angrily grumbling and yelling about firing people.Alex Anthony, PA Guy, definitely threatened the fan that threw Freeman's home run back with ejection and arrest, so that was cool.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 We will make the playoffs in an inelegant way.
