Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Oh good, I was afraid that we might follow up that disaster inning with one where we popped out weakly then K'd on pitches in the dirt and called strikes down the middle.Good thing THAT didn't happen.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Locke Day isn't a winner.Even Jeff Kellogg is stinking up the joint.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 He's out at 1st but the umps should refuse to overturn the call just to punish the sucky play that created it.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Did Cuddy grab his hammy there on that reversed play at first? This has turned into a hideous contest.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Mets didn't take their vitamins during the rain delay.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Did Lagares let up on that? His first step was in but I still thought he could have caught up with that one. And I have never seen him give up on a fly no matter what.I don't think last years model is available anymore.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Considering the score & game situation, Bastardo deserves a 50-game suspension for the pace he's pitching at.The tying run is like 7 guys deep on the bench ... THROW THE FUCKIN' BALL!!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Frayed Knot wrote:And while we can blame sloppy play and Bobby Parnell all we want, the bottom line on this series is that they totaled 5 runs in 17 innings off the fearsome trio of Happ, Morton, & Locke (who had given up a combined 13 runs in 15 IP in their previous starts) and followed that up with ZERO runs in 12-2/3 innings (and counting) vs the Pitt pen.Happ, Morton, & Locke are one of the most reliable solicitor firms in Hertefordshire.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Collins is unravelling on the post game.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Just listened to WOR post game thing with Collins. Nothingapproaching unraveling at all.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 I was listening to the sports scores on radio. After news of the Mets, I thought I heard that Jason Bay had won the PGA Golf Tournament. I freaked out, until I later heard it was Jason Day.Later
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 The day started off well. This woman selling Rally Parakeets before the game amused us - And it's always fun hanging out with Fman and his lovely son -But Harvey came out of the game, the skies opened, and everything went south after that....
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 We had a great time also, despite spending 11 hours in a vehicle today, and watching Bobby Pee make poop muffins on the mound, still an excellent day at the ballpark.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Just catching "highlights." We're unanimous, I take it, on the fact that Parnell should be 6th or 7th on the bullpen pecking order, yes?
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 I don't want Parnell on the postseason roster.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Between the return of Matz, and maybe Goeddel, and maybe Logan Venditte, and even maybe Bartolo Colon in the pen, I (fortunately) can't see how Parnell would even merit consideration.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I imagine he could turn his season around. Happens all the time and stuff.Has Logan Verrett learned to pitch with both arms?

Especially since his likely replacement in the pre-Clip-Art/Familia role is Robles of whom it was said on this forum that he wasn't worthy of seeing the major leagues this season, or maybe ever, based on a lousy outing or two in March.Granted Bobby Pee has got to be kept away from as many high-leverage situations as possible right now but that's also not always possible following back-to-back extra inning games where most of the rest of the pen has worked multiple nights and/or multiple inning assignments. And if they connect on that GiDP it's a very different outing. As for the post-season roster, at this point we're not even to the entrance ramp which leads to the toll booth which leads to that bridge much less are ready to whip out our EZ-Pass and cross it - so I think we can put off making that decision for now.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Parnell had Tommy John surgery 16 months ago. I think Matt Harvey again is making us take some things for granted. For now though, yes, it seems like Parnell should probably get some less high-leverage innings, but I'm more hesitant about this general feeling that he should be launched into the sun while he's still trying to find himself again.
