Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 NY Mets at MiamiWhen: 7:10 PM ET, Tuesday, August 4, 2015Where: Marlins Park, Miami, FloridaSportsDirect Inc.The New York Mets are back in first place and receiving early dividends from newly acquired slugger Yoenis Cespedes. The surging Mets seek their fifth consecutive win when they continue a three-game series on Tuesday against the host Miami Marlins.Behind three doubles and four RBIs from Cespedes and a solid eight-inning effort from Bartolo Colon, New York rolled to a 12-1 win in the series opener, moving one game up on Washington in the National League East. The Mets had resided in second place from June 20 through Sunday, when they tied the Nationals, but their current 7-2 run has dramatically altered the outlook for Terry Collins' team. They have not won five in a row since their 11-game run in April that initially vaulted the club into first place. The Marlins have lost eight of 10 and are averaging 2.7 runs since the All-Star break.TV: 7:10 p.m. ET, SNY (New York), FSN Florida (Miami)PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets LH Jonathon Niese (5-9, 3.63 ERA) vs. Marlins LH Brad Hand (1-2, 5.12) Niese has allowed one run or fewer in four of his last six starts, including a no-decision against San Diego on Thursday. He limited the Padres to one run on six hits in six innings while striking out six, his highest total since June 17. The 28-year-old was reached for five runs (four earned) in four innings of a loss to Miami on May 30 and owns a 4.38 ERA in 17 career starts against the Marlins.Hand made three starts earlier this season but has appeared out of the bullpen in his last 10 appearances. He was lit up for six runs in just two-thirds of an inning in his last start June 8 at Toronto and is 5-19 with a 4.69 ERA in his career as a starter. The former second-round pick faced the Mets three times in as many days back in April, giving up two runs in 3 2/3 innings of relief.WALK-OFFS:1. New York starters have allowed two runs or fewer in eight of their last nine games.2. Marlins CF Christian Yelich had three hits Monday and is batting .314 at home, compared to .229 on the road.3. Mets RF Curtis Granderson went 3-for-5 on Monday and has reached safely in 18 straight games.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 It's a very corporeal matchup.[fimg=250:2rgu9iep]http://assets-s3.mensjournal.com/img/essential/the-way-to-build-a-better-knee/618_348_the-way-to-build-a-better-knee.jpg[/fimg:2rgu9iep] [fimg=212:2rgu9iep]http://poliklinika-arcadia.hr/en/images/stories/plastic/hand-v.jpg[/fimg:2rgu9iep]

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Terry's sure got some out-of-the-hat lineups. It's like the bench is Campbell and Campbell alone. Everybody else is part of an obscure starting rotation.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 I'm rooting for Lagares tonight.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2015 Author Posted August 4, 2015 I just want a win a day from wherever it may come.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 How did the Mets go from one of history's worst-hitting pitching staves to the pitchers getting a hit a day the next season?
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 1-0 Marlins in the 5th. Gordon with an RBI single off Flores glove in the 3rd.Flores tried hard for the grasscutter and after he missed it he didn't cry or anything.Niese looking okay. Need a run. LETS GO METS!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 We let Hand off the hook (which is different from giving early Mets pitcher Jay Hook a hand) by forcing him to throw 20+ pitches/inning but not being able to push anything across. Now we're going to have to score probably by seeing a new pitcher each inning or so.Letting Hechavarria on twice in a row leading off an inning without a hit (1 BB, 1 E) isn't a good idea either.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Why the hell are they doing a canned Terry Collins interview while there's a game in progress? Sheesh!
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Can't believe Angel Hernandez didn't screw us on that call.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 That'll serve.I mean, it looked like a beer league play at the plate, but that'll serve.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 That was a great slide and nice traffic directing by Niese to signal him to slide towards that side of home plate.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Diamondbacks just tied it up against Scherzer.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 I wonder about running for Lucas here.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 And you can add another one to our 'We suck at bunting' tally.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Ugh with the bunting. Swing fucking bats.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 WTF, Terry? Bunting is for losers. Also, since no one on the team can actually do it properly, stop calling for it please.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Campbell as a righty PH is still mighty underwhelming. Hurry back, Capt Sugarbutt.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Oh, like I know what I'm talking about.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 I was just saying that I found it strange that Campbell was the first bat off the bench.
