Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Now that his slump has covered about half the season, I'm not shy about wondering if maybe the Mets have had a second consecutive 30-homerun first baseman turn into a pumpkin. Have they?If not, what in the name of Willie Montaez is to be done? I'm asking because shopping list for hitters has seemingly included shortstops, outfielders, and third basemen, but at this point, why not look at first basemen?Tell me, why not?
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 I can't think of a single reason why they shouldn't be looking to acquire a first baseman along with those other parts.Later
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 his usual L/R splits are actually reversed this year, making finding a platoon partner harder to justify right now. maybe we can find someone for a home-road platoon instead? these numbers are Dante Bichette like:Home: .280/.397/.547Road: .191/.279/.284
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 20, 2015 Author Posted July 20, 2015 That correlates pretty nicely with the Mets' home/road records.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 (edited) Indeed it does. The Mets are frighteningly Duda-pendent this season. Edited July 20, 2015 by Guest
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Well, good thing they didn't sign him to a long-term deal, anyway.Yeah, you gotta look in the offseason. This ain't working. There's no injury apparent, so it's just a reversion to suck. I was hoping the 30 dingers weren't a flash in the pan, but it's looking more and more like they were.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 21, 2015 Author Posted July 21, 2015 I'm not particularly speaking about the offseason.Nor am I particularly speaking about the lack of dingers, so much as the lack of any sort of big league production at all for the last 45 games.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 I was the one talking about lack of singers. We need minstrels dammit.
