Duda Watching

Now that his slump has covered about half the season, I'm not shy about wondering if maybe the Mets have had a second consecutive 30-homerun first baseman turn into a pumpkin. Have they?

If not, what in the name of Willie Montaez is to be done? I'm asking because shopping list for hitters has seemingly included shortstops, outfielders, and third basemen, but at this point, why not look at first basemen?

Tell me, why not?

I can't think of a single reason why they shouldn't be looking to acquire a first baseman along with those other parts.

his usual L/R splits are actually reversed this year, making finding a platoon partner harder to justify right now.

maybe we can find someone for a home-road platoon instead? these numbers are Dante Bichette like:

Home: .280/.397/.547
Road: .191/.279/.284

Indeed it does.

The Mets are frighteningly Duda-pendent this season.

Well, good thing they didn't sign him to a long-term deal, anyway.

Yeah, you gotta look in the offseason. This ain't working. There's no injury apparent, so it's just a reversion to suck. I was hoping the 30 dingers weren't a flash in the pan, but it's looking more and more like they were.

I'm not particularly speaking about the offseason.

Nor am I particularly speaking about the lack of dingers, so much as the lack of any sort of big league production at all for the last 45 games.

You edited? Now my post looks silly.

Sorry, better you than me.

Caught it before I saw your post. Auto-correct in my MacBook is making me look silly left and right.
