Guest themetfairy Guests Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Thanks for the heads up! He's getting ready to pitch the bottom of the 8th!
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 He serves up a home run with his first pitch of the 8th.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2015 Author Posted June 16, 2015 Hits a guy with a pitch to lead off the inning. yeah! you teach him to lean over that plate! thats YOUR plate frenchy!edit - i missed the HR, so it was retaliation! even better!
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 The bases are now loaded in the 8th, with only one out.The score is currently 18-3 - a game where Phillies ERAs go to die.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 OMG - the bullpen phone was literally off the hook, so the manager couldn't call the pen!

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Francouer had actually pitched in 8 games in AAA last year with an idea of extending his career that way if the hitting thing continued to not work out - kind of a reverse Rick Ankiel.Plus, it's always been known that the guy has an arm.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Saw some of this, & the post game. Man, the Phils really, really, really suck. How ironic. The post game show especially trashed how Frenchy was used for 2 innings.

I wasn't paying total attention. They mentioned another player pitching one inning, an infielder, and supposedly Chase Utley chewed out the Phils pitching coach on the mound for keeping Frenchy in for so many pitches. I don't know how they know that's what Chase was saying (he was flapping his gums) and if that was just speculation (they didnt report it as such-but again, not paying full attention).
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Utley didn't want Francoeur unusable for today.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 This is just awesome. When do they play the Phillies again?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Here's a pretty good summary.I'm curious about Utley's semi-regular attempts to countermand his manager and coaches and wonder when it's going to come to a head. Nothing in particular against Sandberg (though I was never a fan), but I would love to see Utz end up becoming a player-manager.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 The Rays used two position players last night too -- infielders Jake Elmore (the Blues Brother?) and Nick Franklin -- and Nats catcher Wilson Ramos homered off both of them. That HAS to be a first.

And I would love to see him fail, and bump up against a veteran who's just as much of a know-it-all priaprism as he he's been for the last decade.
