TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 This team is infuriating to watch right now. Also, anything Tulo could give us (and I'm not sure it is as much as we think) would be wasted on this team. They are more than one or a few guys away from being contenders right now.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 They are contenders. I mean, the standings insist they are.I certainly wouldn't bark at Tulowitzki.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 They bought a lot of leeway in the standings with that 11 game win streak. 11-18 and consistently putrid on offense since, tho.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 No doubt. They're playing like something very different. But All-Star help? Yeah, I'll take some of that.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Colorado can keep their SS and the 80-90 million dollars they owe him. Besides, he wants to be a Yankee!
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 I did add this book to my future reading list thanks to its mention in the broadcast booth today, though.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Another sign that I'm getting old: I just realized this series is over. I can't believe the Mets aren't staying in Pittsburgh one more day to close out their Memorial Day series on, you know, Memorial Day. That's how they used to roll. I won't go so far as to say that I was also expecting a Memorial Day doubleheader; that expectation would make me ancient, instead of merely old(er).
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 They're coming back to New York and bringing Danny Muno with them. I heard after the game (WFAN?) that he's been recalled, and Monell sent down.Well, we were expecting they'd add an infielder ...Later

I read in a NYC newspaper that some scout (not to be named of course) says he's not cut out for playing everyday in the bigs. What makes him say this? And why should anybody be listening to some anonymous scout?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Just because one scout said something, it doesn't mean that everyone is listening to him.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 I read that after the game, Terry held a team meeting where he reminded the players of the importance of putting the ball in play. You know things are bad when the hitters need to be told that they should try to hit fair balls.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Reynolds has been in a slump lately, and his average has dropped to around .285-.290. I think they'd rather bring up a player who has been on a hot streak if they're going to install him as a regular. If Reynolds rights himself, they'll bring him up at what they feel is the appropriate time.Later
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 I don't know. When he was brought up, it was reported that he'd start today's game. Didn't read anything about the games after that. We'll find out.Later
