Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Gaining a 1/2 game on an off day is never a bad thing.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Boy, it'd be nice to put a little distance between the Mets and the Nats before the Nats woke up. They seem to be in a light coma right now.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 When the magic number gets below 40, things are starting to get real.......
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Well, the magic number has to be seen in the context of how many games remain. A magic number of 20 is great when there are 35 games remaining, but not so great when there are 22 games remaining.

If the Nats control their own destiny, then so do the Mets. If both teams win all of their remaining games, the Mets finish ahead of the Nats. Of course, both teams can't possibly win all of the rest of their games unless all six remaining games between the Mets and Nats are canceled permanently. And even then, the Mets would still control their destiny in the division.

When it starts becoming no longer about just getting righted, but about hoping the Mets struggle.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 The Brewers are my least favorite team in the national League, in part because of Braun, in part because they don't belong in the NL but mainly because they can't ever be counted on to do what you want them to do when you want them to do it.Watch them lie down this weekend vs. the Gnats. Just watch!

Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 If the Mets finish 20-21 the Nats have to go 25-16 to tie. If my math is right. Someone teased me about 2007 the other day. It was meant in fun but my stomach hurt the rest of the day.
