Nats in danger of losing for the 7th time in the last 10 Max Scherzer starts.
That didn't even seem possible two months ago.

3-2 Rox, [crossout]top 8[/crossout] bottom 8.

The magic number is actually 39. Nationals have 60 losses and the Mets have 64 wins.

Even better - yay!

Well, the magic number has to be seen in the context of how many games remain. A magic number of 20 is great when there are 35 games remaining, but not so great when there are 22 games remaining.

Nats still control their own destiny, when they don't is when it gets real.

That's a wash. If the Nats control their own destiny, then so do the Mets. If both teams win all of their remaining games, the Mets finish ahead of the Nats. Of course, both teams can't possibly win all of the rest of their games unless all six remaining games between the Mets and Nats are canceled permanently. And even then, the Mets would still control their destiny in the division.

Correct, it's a wash. When it's NOT a wash, is when it gets real. When it starts becoming no longer about just getting righted, but about hoping the Mets struggle.

The Brewers are my least favorite team in the national League, in part because of Braun, in part because they don't belong in the NL but mainly because they can't ever be counted on to do what you want them to do when you want them to do it.

Watch them lie down this weekend vs. the Gnats. Just watch!

Eff them. Watch them cough it up.

If the Mets finish 20-21 the Nats have to go 25-16 to tie. If my math is right. Someone teased me about 2007 the other day. It was meant in fun but my stomach hurt the rest of the day.
