It's Leigh Castergine week here at the Wild Card Edition of Standings, 2015. Our week long celebration leading up to the one year anniversary of our heroine's return to the Mets offices following her maternity leave is brought to you by our newest sponsor, Tiparillo Cigarettes, former TV sponsor of Mets games on WOR-TV back in the '70's.

The Cubs and Giants will still be Wild Card positioned when you wake up tomorrow morning, no matter what the outcomes of their respective games tonight, which are still in progress as we go to press.

Sadly, I agree with your assessment. It's hard to win baseball games when you can't score runs.

Wins by WAS and ATL to go with the NYM loss today.

The Mets are now closer to third than they are to first in the NL East.

The Mets' win and the Cubs' loss to the Nationals bring the Mets back into a tie for the second Wild Card spot.

Mets gain a game on the losing Nats... 1 games out.

As of today's win, the Mets are 21-6 (.778) against sub .500 teams and 6-15 (.286) against teams above .500

If my math is correct, they play 26 of their next 29 games against sub .500 teams.

Eventually, they will need to learn to play with the big boys...but for the next month, I look forward to them beating the crap out of the second division clubs.

and in that time, hopefully we can have a net positive in injuries healed to injuries acquired. d'Arnaud should return, who knows, maybe even Wright. It'll be closer to the trade deadline with more time to get another bat if need be, and time for prospects or fringe guys to step up and be contributors. It's a good time to be playing the lesser competition.

If you had told be in February that I'd wake up on June 1 and find the Mets a half-game out of first place, I'm not sure I'd have believed you.

Which is hardly anything to write home about. It certainly seems like they have been worse. But it's June 2, and they are tied for first. Syndegaard on the mound tonight against a guy with a 7+ ERA. Things could be worse.

And I hope to see Mr. Bump in September as well.

That last line? Absolutely nothing to write home about. Just a post-script note, for measurement's sake.

The firstplaciness? THERE'S a lede.

    Dear Home,

The Mets are in first place. Everything is awesome.

Hope you're well. How could you not be?

    Love,

    Me

So this couple have their oven in a wood paneled wall next to their bar? In what? Their dining room?
Holy schmoly, look at those HUGE dials.

Quick Quiz: Who's the actor in the ad?
(More like a question since I don't know the answer)

OE: The reason I came to this thread was to say that the Nats took a lead in Toronto. Harper's getting ridiculous. Missed a HR by a few inches.

That looks like Richard Deacon, most known as Mel Cooley on the Dick Van Dyke show...

He looks a lot like Phil Silvers.
