batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2014 Author Posted August 5, 2014 I just finished looking up Moises' Mets stats. I knew he was good, but I had to re-remember just how damn good he was.Did the Mets ever have any 40 year olds better than Moises and Rickey? They were better than most 25 year old Mets.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Premature fireworks. Moises Alou is incorrect (1 X!). I'm looking for a guy who finished second in RoY voting AS A FORMER MET.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Thank you for participating, but the question was to be tiebreaker for our two finalists.
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Did this person actually play for the Mets before heading to the other team, or are we talking guys who were traded out of the Mets system?
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 That rules out Kazmir.I have two guesses, which breaks the rules. I know Kevin Tapani had a cup of coffee then got decent with the Twins, and Terrance Long had a Starbucks stop and went to Oakland. (Was that part of the disastrous Izzy/Billy Taylor deal?Picking one, I'm going to guess Long.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Terrence Long is not the answer I was looking for, but it IS CORRECT!I declare you Mets RotY Voting Support Champion. Congratulations. The guy I was looking for was indeed 1999 RotY runner-up Preston Wilson (Marlins). But Terrence Long pulled it off again the very next year in the AL with the Athletics. Ex-Mets at the time were both.
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 This was fun!Baseball card collecting and its rookie emphasis pays off once in a while.I thought about Preston, but I thought he spent more time with the Mets and wouldn't qualify. I also was thinking about those Marlins trades -- I seem to remember we made a number of them -- and a bunch of young players went south. I was wondering about some of the pitchers -- Burnett, Yanrall, Peterson.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 A 10th win would sure help to push the voters over any psychological hump. You know what else would help? This gif of deGrom's slider.
