Just sharing what I heard

Lo Duca is a jerk. Loudmouths is dehumanizing. They perhaps deserve each other, but lets not let that shit echo through the interwebs.

The notion that we're supposed to expect Wright being traded because Lo Duca said he should is... weird. Is there anything else out there?

Nothing from what I have seen...I mean who has even thought about Loduca recently....not a bad way to get your name out there I suppose.

Maybe the Blue Jays can take him and he'll have a chance to actually make it to the post season with R.A. & Jose.

He's just talking crazy, man. It's all good. Paul's just been, like, a little bit off ever since Bethany broke up with him at prom a few weeks ago, y'know?

Rich Chiles was a handsome dude, perhaps the most Ken-like of any Met in history.

Kinda had a Jon Schneider thing happening in his puss also.

It's the old "trade for prospects" merry-go-round. If you believe the adherents, the way to build a great team is.

1. Trade your best players for prospects.
2. Be lousy until the prospects (only a handful of which pan out) make the majors.
3. When one does pan out and the team isn't winning, go to step one.

LoDuca is an idiot. If the Mets trade David Wright, they won't sell another ticket for years.

That basically happened when Seaver left... thing is they don't sell many now...

the mets last year drew greater attendance than all but three teams in 1977.

the mets last year drew greater attendance than the 1972 mets.

the mets this year have already drawn greater attendance than the 1979 mets, for their entire season.

B-b-b-but baseball's dying ... nobody even follows the sport anymore.

Sure but it's not like it's the Mets' policy alone to announce tickets sold over turnstile clicks.

The point remains that Ashie's contention that, should sales plummet following a discouraging personnel move, it won't matter because the team sells so few tickets now as it is, doesn't really hold. Plenty of room remains for sales to decline and decline further.

And as bad as this last week was, sales have trended up slightly this season.

No thanks to me, of course.

Mets might announce a crowd of 28,000 but there won't be that many there ....

Since the more-or-less merger of the two leagues ALL teams announce the number of tickets sold rather than asses-in-seats. It used to be the AL announced tickets sold while the NL did only the turnstile count but, since the visiting team gets a percentage of the gate, one standard was needed once inter league games started.
Not that any of that is news to most people who either follow or cover the game, but it doesn't stop some (Francesa among others) from acting as if the Mets are both the inventors and the sole users of this form of deception.

I don't listen to Francesca so I have no idea what goes on there. And I'm not interested, either.

But Francesca aside, I'm wondering to myself if the Mets difference between sold tickets attendance and fans present attendance is greater than for any other team -- given the Mets disappointing play and that they nevertheless, might sell more season tickets than most teams because of the size of the market they play in and the amount of wealth residing in their market.

Not that we'll ever get to know.
