Hey, I was thinking that. Could Collins have called for a review that showed he was not in contact with the rubber when he released the ball? A pitcher does have to keep contact with the rubber until the ball leaves his hand, no? Could something like that even be reviewed? Because its technically not "a play".

Y'know what really suxx (aside from the Met offense and their bullpen I mean)? Getting two runs off of Kimbrel (and potentially more had he not been pulled) during what was probably the only time we'll ever see him with a four run lead.
A closer facing seven hitters while retiring just two is rare enough (particularly with him) and is almost always sufficient to hang a 'Blown Save' on his ass. But because this was a sort of rehab appearance for Kimbrel he was in with the extra cushion on the one night he actually needed it.

I was at this game and this is my first time in front of a computer since then.

I was dismayed to see Valverde take the mound in the top of the 9th. I fully expected to see Matsuzaka get a second inning.

And this was in my Easter thread.

We would be the luckiest team in the world if Valverde is Benitez.
