MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 ESPN's Buster Olney says there's a "good possibility" free agent Alfredo Aceves signs with the Mets.Aceves posted an ugly 4.86 ERA in 11 appearances (six starts) this past year for the Red Sox and was at times a headache for Boston manager John Farrell. But he shouldn't cost much for a Mets team that is open to taking chances on any potential roster upgrades. Aceves, 30, posted a 2.61 ERA across 114 innings back in 2011.Later
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Sounds like the kind of guy who will be parked in Las Vegas until and unless he's needed to fill a vacancy in the rotation.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 (edited) He's been mostly a reliever in his career - including being one of about nine closers the Sawx have used over the last two seasons. I would think he'd almost certainly get enough nibbles to get himself a major league contract from somewhere and so wouldn't be so easy to simply put in AAA storage waiting for a place to use him. Will he be "a good fit" here? ... Yeah, probably ... sure, whatever. I mean, he's a reliever so whodafuckknows - but he's been more on than off in his six year career to date, although less good lately.Turns 31 in a few weeks. Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 He's like the house that won't move-- decent stuff, terrible location. Also, there's the ex-MFY smell about him (2008-2010).
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 What's the opposite of a hard on? That's what I have for Alfredo Aceves.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 I guess that'd be a soft-off.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 I'm okay with him. has some talent. Alliteration is fun.
