Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 What will become of the beloved John & Ken show, that is what I must know!!!
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Kinda hope Josh does return.....not that I listen a lot on the radio but when I do I like Howie and Josh.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 That Newsday link made my Flash crash and Firefox freeze.Didn't realize WOR was full powered and clear channel. Nice.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Just gobbled up by Clear Channel a month or two ago. Uggle.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I'll be honest I never even heard of John & Ken until an hour ago. They certainly seem like douchebags, though.I don't think I've even listened to that station for 30+ years. Just checked though, and it comes to my cubie OK so I'm good to goof off with yous on those long Thursday afternoons.

I think I saw somewhere that Sean Hannity is heading to WOR locally.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 What's Hannity got to do with anything?

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that Bucket was talking about listening to NEW YORK METS GAMES on the odd Thursday afternoon. And, unless the Mets just signed the worst radio contract in the history of mankind, whatever is on the regular WOR sked during the day -- whether it be Hannity, Limbaugh, or the Mao Tse Tung Hour -- Met radio-casts are going to take precedence.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Raissman/Daily News sez:- official announcement of deal next week- multi-year deal for more than the previous $7mil per/yr amount w/FAN- WOR (or, more accurately, parent company Clear Channel) will have final say on the broadcast team - Rose to return; Lewin "likely" to be back though maybe only on a one-year deal; Eddie C up in the air- team to get "heavy" cross-promotion from other NYC-based Clear Channel outlets: Z-100, Lite-FM, KTU, Q-103, Power-101.5
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 From Sean Henn to Sean Hannity...
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Just tried 710 in the garage, crystal clear ... me happy.WOR should put Steve Somers up against Mike and Michael. That would be just schmoozie funtabulous. (did I just type funtabulous?)
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 WOR is one of the long-time, 50K Watt, clear channel (meaning no competition on the signal - not the parent company) NYC radio stations (does no one remember 'Rambling with Gambling'?) so if you get WFAN in your area you certainly should get WOR.But I can't see WOR hiring Somers.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I like Eddie. I'm fond of Eddie. I'll miss him a lot if he doesn't come along. But if Josh doesn't come along, I'll be very upset. Like, sitting-through-a-wedding-mass-performed-by-Steve-Trachsel upset.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I hope they bring Somers along. He is truly part of the Met fan experience.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I'd be surprised if Eddie C didn't tag along, Josh too.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Zvon wrote:I hope they bring Somers along. He is truly part of the Met fan experience. He's not theirs to bring. I have no idea what Somers' contract status w/FAN is like but WOR is buying the Met radio-telecasts (plus presumably a pre- and post- to go along with it) not the WFAN staff as the rest of their programming day isn't going to have anything to do with sports. If you still want to catch Somers after the game, no problem ... flip the channel.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 It comes in clearly down here as well. Whew!
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I'd like to see Somers' contract! He pops up out of nowhere during extended rain delays. Maybe he has a mobile set up in his apartment. Also, he doesn't workon Sundays, must be in the fine print.

Also, he doesn't workon Sundays, must be in the fine print.Y'know, he always did that 20 minutes or so between the end of M&MD and the beginning of the pre-game show. After that, I think he just got paid to sit around the studio in case of a rain delay or, if not, wait until after the post-game was done. Nice work if you can get it.I just can't see Schmoozer with a whole set-up of high-tech equipment in what I picture as some hole in the wall apt with not much more in it other than a TV set, mini-fridge, and a bunch of empty chinese food containers.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I hope they're going to simulcast on one of the WOR sister FM stations because I just tried to get 710 AM up here and got a festival of static.Later

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Yeah Rogers, I was taking about Mets day games. But between Rush, Hannity, those 2 douches, etc., Mets will be surrounded by right-wing buffoons.I suppose Rush replaces Francesca as team's fat obnoxious lead-in.I like Lewin quite a bit; he's actually helping Howie get better. Have never cared for the journalistic chops of Eddie "You may be right about that, Mike" Coleman but he's alright to listen to otherwise.

That doesn't make much sense.
