G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Feel reasonably confident in asserting that by homering in consecutive plate appearances 40 days apart, between May 11 and June 20, Andrew Brown set some sort of single-season Met record for absence making the bat grow louder.Darryl Strawberry homered in his final PA of the 1986 World Series then when he first stepped up on Opening Day 1987. That was 162 days apart, but something else altogether. FWIW, Darryl homered in his final AB on Closing Day 1986, walked in last PA 10/5/86 and then homered as noted on 4/7/87, meaning HRs on consecutive regular-season ABs 184 days apart.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 I guess the only guys that could top that would be two-tenure guys like Mazzilli, Jorgensen, or McReynolds.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 I like to think of a world where Kevin McReynolds holds all the important Mets records.
