Do they buy a box of Spring Training invitations at the Hallmark store and have Jay Horwitz mail them to invitees, or is it now more of an e-vite deal? Can they bring a plus-one? I'd be so bad at this. I'd never get the invitations out in time, then the night before Spring Training I'd have to call everyone and it would be soooo embarrassing, because what if they got an invitation from a cuter team? I could never show up at the Winter Meetings again.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 27, 2012 Author Posted December 27, 2012 And by voting your hopes and not your fears, you win yourself an autographed Aaron Laffey program, to be sent just as soon as I obtain one. Jaclyn Ayers Laffey is indeed front and center. The Indian maiden lineup in full are: Front, from left: Pamela Moore, then fiancee of Jason Michaels, Jaclyn Ayers, then fiancee of Aaron Laffey, Abbie Blake, wife of Casey Blake.Back, from left: Kate Wedge, wife of Eric Wedge, Christine Williams, wife of Dan Williams, Molly Peralta, wife of Jhonny Peralta, Amber Sabathia, wife of C. C. Sabathia, and Kristen Lee, wife of Cliff Lee.Molly Peralta should spell her name "Mloly."

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 You'd have thought that after a while, a catcher like Eric Wedge would have learned to look between the bars on his mask.Later
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Any? Anywhere? I mean anything. Here y'go, Edgy.According to ESPN, Matt Harvey was the first pitcher since 1900 (not a misprint) to have had at least 10 strikeouts and two hits in his first game. And the kid catcher ain't too shabby, either.http://espn.go.com/espn/next2012/story/_/id/8695008/manny-machado-aj-griffin-matt-harvey-espn-magazine-next-issueHappy New Year!Later
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 According to this article on MLB.com, the Mets are the ONLY team this offseason to not sign a major league free agent. That shit is depressing.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 At another level, it's awesome. Let them all go out to California and dig for fool's gold. We'll sell the jeans.

P. Howell, Matt Lindstrom, Brandon Lyon, Peter Moylan, John Rauch, K-Rod, Rafael Soriano, Jose Valverde, Brian Wilson) that I can't imagine that will last.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 Would re-signing Rauch count?Because part of me thinks extending Wright was sort of a coup in the same sense that signing a free agent was, and while the 2013 Mets technically remain free agent virgins, let's not over-equate that with success.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 I'm not actually considering signing Wright to be signing a free agent. I'm considering the signing of a free agents as a single measure of off-season progress to be shortsighted.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 Looks like Quintanilla is boomeranging back to the Mets. Not sure if it's a major- or minor-league deal.
Guest The Second Spitter Guests Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Since Tuesday (ie every day of 2013 so far) I've spotted somebody wearing a Mets cap. That's never happened to me before living in this country. It feels almost......... prophetic.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 I left my kids a list of jobs to do when I went off to work yesterday. Among the chores were cleaning their rooms, emptying the dishwasher, finding out what textbooks are needed for the upcoming semester and finding the Mets a reliever. My son, after much research, obtained JP Howell. I'll alert the Mets.
