Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Yes, the Mets have signed Brian Bixler to a minor league deal and ST invite.RH hitter with good versatility, he's the new Jason Bay.
Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 So I read it wrong? They didn't sign Bix Beiderbecke?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 The great tradition of BB's on the Mets historical roster continues. Could Brian Bogusevic be far behind? He's played seven different positions. I'm calling him Bugs Bunny.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 I have a mental image of his playing SS and the OF against us in one game-- and hitting us hard in that game-- for the Pirates a couple of years ago. Am I hallucinating?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 One of the beat writers was remembering a big bomb he hit off Oliver Perez shortly before Ollie was cut. But yeah, plays infield and outfield, and can hit LH pitching. Not a bad part to have around I suppose.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Maybe in Spring Training, because he's never done much of anything against us in the regular season. 5-20 with a double.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Small bit o' bad news for Ronny C.

smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 AAA depth that's good to have, but you really hope you don't need.

Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 I just ordered our 15-game plan for 2013, and I fully intend to be there the day he turns into Lou Ferrigno.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 This is how we reacted when the Mets signed R.A. Dickey a few years ago.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Some folks like to sell low, emotionally.
Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Finding a gem, or at least a passable cubic zirconia, amongst guys like this can be very useful. If Mike Baxter wasn't around Howie Rose would still be counting the days until the Mets' first no-hitter. Plus, as teams move inexorably toward a 15-man pitching staff versatility has real value. He has another Metly tie in his past - he was DFA'ed by the Clevelands in 2010 to clear a spot for Anderson Hernandez.
