I love that they're jumping all over this narrative.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 It's delicious , contract through 2017.........love it.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 I was half joking when I made reference during that last inning to the opponents losing and their fans blaming it all on ARod as a result being the best of all outcomes, but my brief listen to Steve Somers after the game found him doing a monolog on just that. Why is the "Lightening Rod" still hitting 3rd?, etc.Of course the Schmoozer is good at doing stuff like that in order to ensure he'll have callers lining-up to chime in as soon as he returns from the first commercial break, but I have no doubt that would have been the most popular topic anyway.

Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Mariano Rivera threw out the first pitch. He almost missed it - the guy who electrifies his pool for the winter was running late.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Ernie Johnson almost sounded sad with that Machado home run.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 OK, so this Miguel Gonzalez guy has shut down the Yanx the whole game except for the "dramatic" long fly that should have been caught. The announcers just got through talking about the fact that there haven't even been any loud outs.He hasn't walked a single batter and has just struck out four of the last five hitters he's faced. So Buck is taking him out ... why?
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Because somebody's got to give up that dramatic game-winning hit, and he just wasn't doing the job.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Doing my best not to watch Opponent hit, so wouldn't know where he was at re: pitch count.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Well, Buck the mad scientist is looking good so far.O'Day has a quick, uneventful 8th inning.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 And now we're going to see Boone Logan for the lefty-hitting Thome ... and then someone else after that (Lowe?) for Reynolds.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Been waiting for THOME to get a fly ball to shallow right.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 OMG, pinch hitting for Arod.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Fuck man! Give away one out with a bunt and then another one getting caught off 2nd.Not sure there's much the runner Andino was going to do about that one but still, Soriano got out of that inning by essentially retiring one batter.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Ripken thinks Texeria should bunt...
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 The opponents got 49 HRs this season out of Ibanez, Andruw, and Chavez this year in less than 900 ABs combinedAnd those are their freakin' part-time guys who are a combined 109 years old!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 The way Angel Hernandez went looking into the stands there, it was pretty clear that if Swisher had gotten his hands on the ball underneath everything out there that he was going to get the call even though it clearly went off some fan's hands four rows deep.
