Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 I'm an idiot but still think these guys have a run in 'em. And I'd really like to regain sole possession of 3rd place.Just for context, their longest win streak all season was 5 games (May 5-9, vs. AZ & at Philly). Here's the remaining sked beginning tonite:COL 3HOU 3@ PHI 3@MIA 3@ STL 3ATL 3WAS 3@ MIL 3PHI 3MIA 3PIT 4@ ATL 3@ MIA 3
Guest sharpie Guests Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 I went for the threepeat. They go to Atlanta with wild card on the line for the Braves and sweep 'em. Bastards.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 I see 4 games, that's it.Sweep Houston and win first against Philly.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Four seems about right...with losing streaks on either side.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 I wound up building this poll as a vehicle for me to argue we have a 6-game win streak in us still but I built it too well and I just can't see it. For example, I didn't know we'd maxed out at 5 this year.So I'm gonna go vote for 6 anyway even though I'm all but certain I'll be wrong. Maybe 6 out of any 8 is possible. Maybe.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Whoa, who voted 7?

Duda will blast some home runs, David will be hot again. Murphy will even poke a couple over the wall. The Mets will score 60 runs over those 7 games (and allow 32 (8 by Manny Acosta)) It'll be the last two games against Miami at home, a sweep of the Pirates trying to clinch, and the first game against the Braves on the road.

Go for it!Later

Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 I wish i had the exclusive Haldol distributorship for this website.
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 I'll go with 6. If the crappy 2001 team could win 6 straight in September, this team surely can as well.
Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Four - last two vs. PHA, first two vs. MIA in the home set.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 The way this team is playing, I would be a little more than mildly surprised if they swept ANYBODY the rest of the year.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Even the '62 team had a 9-3 stretch (although it only sorta swept the Cubs in that span. 2 game home stand after a win in Chicago a week earlier. Actually, they were off Monday, won in Chicago tuesday, and then were off Wednesday/thursday? Did they make up those games Cub home games at Shea?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 I'm thinking three. It doesn't have to be a sweep; the three-game streak could span two series.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 You didn't give us a Zero option.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 6. Cause their goal should be simple. Top the 5 game streak.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Mets currently have a four-game streak going, which beats my guess of three.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Me too. Only seven folks left in this contest.
