But Rhas Al Ghul isn't Irish. And the Russian sub commander played by Sean Connery wasn't Scottish. It's all good, if the actor is good. There was no particular reason Bane had to be any particular nationality.

really enjoyed it. And reboot or not, they certainly seemed to hint that there could be more if they wanted to. or a spin off of sorts. One or two minor things they'd have to clear up, but it could be fun still.

Enjoyed Hathaway as Cat Woman, think the character was well played.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt had a nice part too as Blake, I like him as an actor. Probably should've realized the 'twist' at the end, but whatever.

some nice aerials of Manhattan, which I always enjoy.

Saw previews for Bourne, Man of Steel and Skyfire, all of which I want to see. oh, and the Hobbit of course.

****spoilers of sort below*****

* I didn't care for Marion Cotillard, or the plot twist she is asked to play; it felt forced and imposed on the narrative. But the big reveal did cause an audible gasp and sense of satisfaction in the story getting back to to its comic book roots, so i didn't really mind.

She may or may not just a projection of Blake's mind anyway. Oh wait, mixing movies there. That's actually the plot twist I saw coming a mile away. Especially after they did away with Daggard as the human villain.

But the entire story was very well done and powerful and all that. Long but definitely didn't drag at all. Although I felt like Catwoman disappeared for too long between betraying Batman and while the city was going rogue. And I kept wondering where Alfred was the whole time, though I didn't actually expect him to be part of the resistance or anything.

Weird that they did this. (They also added some bridges across the Hudson River from downtown [crossout]Manhattan[/crossout] Gotham.)

That was actually Pittsburgh.

We all have Christian Bale to thank for Blake not being the character he should have been and we all wanted him to be. -- (not sure if this is common knowledge or not, and I really don't care at this point)

The general reaction to the screening of the first cut is that it has "bomba" written all over it. Who knows, it may be salvageable.

It was heavily implied Alfred left the city before hand. As for Catwoman's disapperance, hiding from the new order which she clearly did not want to be part of? Or coping with guilt? Up until that point she was never directly responsible for any person's death.

I always feel like the floor for crazy action movies is pretty high. Even if it's not good, you've got crazy car chases and that sorta thing to enjoy.

IMDB implies it's not even a Bourne movie though, which sorta ruins the whole story imo. Not that the story every really mattered in this franchise, but they're definitely misleading us via the trailers.

i'm not sure what you mean that "its implied it's not even a Bourne move". The trailer makes no secret of the fact that it's not about Jason Bourne, and is not the least misleading that it is. The trailer depicts Jeremy Renner's character as an assassin, created by the same program that created Bourne, going on the run, and its an action/spy thriller with a romantic angle, just as the Bourne movies are, with many of the same supporting characters and actors, written by Tony Gilroy, the guy who co-wrote all the other Bourne movies, and this time directed by him, too (he directed MICHAEL CLAYTON, which i think is a good thing).

Might it be a bomb anyway? Sure. But i''m willing to give it a try, based on Renner and Gilroy.

I'd assumed until I looked it up that they simply replaced the actor. I don't do a lot of reading up on movies I know I want to see, I'd rather just wait and see the movie itself. It's why I hadn't watched the Man of Steel trailer yet.

"Bourne is in Manhattan! I repeat, Jason Bourne has been spotted in Manhattan!" certainly didn't help that presumption.

But the most recent book pits Bourne against another former Treadstone member, so my perception of the Bourne universe is very muddled and the preview hit on certain keypoints. And I know the movies have really nothing to do with the books, but it's hard to separate the two in my head sometimes. I don't even think the last book was called Legacy, I think that was the fourth one which despite not being nearly as good as the Ludlum books, was enjoyable and touched on some delicate parts of David Webb's (pre-Bourne) memory.

Finally saw this and it was worth the wait. Just a hair short of the last film (Bain wasn't as good as Joker and that was the difference.)

I'm really sad to see this darker Batman go, and cringe at the thought of a return to the Batman movies that preceeded the last 3.

I finally saw this tonight, too. And took the liberty of re-watching the first two films this past week as well.

This film was decent. Not nearly on par with TDK, IMO, but as good as the first. Ledger's Joker and Eckhart's Dent/Two Face were tough performances to top.

Tedious, slow, boring, routinely plotted, pointlessly sadistic, predictable, and a major disappointment after the first two. Bane was the second least interesting villain in the history of film (only Darth Maul had less personality). 'm actually watching it right now and don't care at all that I'm missing things.

God, another fistfight between Bane and Batman. The first was dull; this is even duller.

Glad I got this at Redbox for a buck and quarter. That's all it's worth.

God! They just did the big "twist." How stupid can they get with this?

I believe Spitter was referring to Gordon-Levitt playing Robin. IIRC, Bale said he would never have anything to do with a Batman movie that involved Robin.

I think the movie had enough too it already without adding in a Robin storyline. You don't want to get to where Spiderman 3 was with too many characters to deal with.
