The Mets were inspired by the post I wrote on p1 of this thread. Please read it if you missed it.

For Bill!

Second time in a row that a nice start by Niese gets a bit lost in the shuffle thanks to a big day by the offense.

Phils announcers still don't know why Capt Kirk was scratched. I like that I get more info from youz than from them.

We'll notice. Phils feed just said Niese has handcuffed the Phils all night. I like that. Just saw a replay of Tejada's leaping catch. Yea, you're right, WOW.

Jeeze, Tholes on a tear too. A Tejada type tear.

Not only that, but GKR are doing their normal stellar job tonight of providing both timely commentary and insightful analysis of the team at the halfway mark. Without the brainless drivel made popular by ESPN and FOX on their broadcasts.

Meanwhile, Muffie with another extra base hit. 11-1 good guys.

I'm shocked at that non-call on Utley's attempted DP
Yeah he was off the bag but you rarely see that unless it's a LOT more blatant than it was and I suspect most of this board would be howling if that kind of call went against us.

My thinking on that is that he wasn't doing the standard "straddling" of the base. He was out in front of second, toward the runner. Odd play.

One of the replays showed that the throw pulled Utley pretty far off the bag. That's prolly what the ump saw.

When I saw it real time, I thought "That is a textbook example of the 'area' play." But I thought Utley would get the call.

It wasn't the wrong call, just a rare one.

How could it possibly be the wrong call? It went for the Mets ;).
Yes, it is very rare.No one argued it in the least. Odd.

Phillies suck, but it's nice to have independent statistical confirmation of such via a score of 11 to 1.

With each hit he gets, Murphy's defense is looking better and better.
If he keeps this up, he could win a Gold Glove.

he needs to hit more for that.

record crowd apparently. It felt like it, although it wasn't that enthused. too many fireworkers I guess?

Good game. the Phillies were pathetic all around, and ultimately it ended up being a fairly boring game, boringly awesome though. Ruiz hit a home run (so much for my fly balls will become outs theory. ) so that shed all hopes of a shutout. Mets scored but ran into some outs, but quickly made sure that didn't hurt them.

Crowd was a record crowd, but sucked for the most part. random wave in the 5th. stopped clapping for two strikes when the PA stopped (umm..why'd you think we were clapping? morons..) Couple of Phillies groups but they didn't really have much to get excited about.

Daniel Murphy had two chances at a cycle, but didn't get it. added 2 more RBI on a double though.

Mets win! David Wright got MVP chants after his home run and during his next AB. halfway through seems to be a good point to start that. Was tracking him and Ruiz all night because I'm silly like that. Maybe he'll pass him one of these games.

Then we got all fireworky. The theme was 5 decades as it's been all year. they played mets highlights from each decade and then a couple of minutes of explosions set to short clips of popular songs from that decade. Last bit was the Johan No Hitter. I tried to get some pics of it but it was too bright and my viewing angle was bad. The moon was up there but mostly obscured. I enjoyed the fireworks this year, thought they stepped it up a bit, but my wife disagreed and was annoyed that they didn't jive with the music at all.
