Wright stung that ball but a nice grab at third, at least he looks good early this year

Disappointed that he didn't get a longer workday.

I appreciate getting folks started on the right foot, but I'm ever an advocate for fewer and longer outings by relievers, and longer ones in general by starters.

Well, yeah, but they did have a runner on, and a chance to do some insure-runs. But, yes, two innings would have been nice.

On the plus side... I really may have to revise my projections for Wright. Ye Gods, does he look locked-in.

On-deck PH Eric Hinske is, like, REALLY wide. Like, Matt Stairs-flattened-a-bit-in-a-giant-vise wide.

Kudos to the spectator who got out of Wright's way so he could make that grab.

FIRST PLACE, MOTHERFATHERS.

Wait, are we still "Taking Care of Business" here?

The woman in the front row looked like she was cowering in terror that the ball may come near her

Exactly. That's what you need to do to not make a Bartman of yourself.

And we don't have to wait to see the Mets win a series or win two games in a row. Let's hope we can see the Mets' first sweep and three-game win streak next.

Glad Edgy's IGT streak is the opposite of his spring training streak.

we tracking that this year?

All things shall be tracked. Encouraging that we played well enough to win a game we didn't play that great. If you're the Braves you've got to be disappointed, devastated being too strong of a word of course.

From the Punch Bowl Turds Dept.: the HRs are nice and all, but the Mets are now 2-for-16 (or 17, I lost count) with RISP on the year.

From the Rose Colored Glasses department: in two games against good pitching, the reputedly weak hitting Mets have gotten 17 runners in scoring position.

Oh boy, this is still great!

Well put!

It was a fun game to attend - not as warm as Thursday, but still fine weather for April. I saw G-Fafif and holychicken before the game, and despite the angst enjoyed the Mets win :)

I watched innings one and two at home and listened to 3-6 on my iPhone will at a kids Easter Egg hunt down the street. Then I came home and napped and missed the end. I'm glad they won.

Aw, but what am I going to do with my giant headphones?

Another feelgood win. They might even knock the Yanks off of tomorrow's back pages for the second time this week. Is a 2-0 Mets start bigger news than an 0-2 MFY start?

Collins said he expects Duda to surpass Jason Bay in the batting order -- going from the six spot to the No. 5 hole -- in the second series of the season.

Sounds fine by me. I don't know what Collins is waiting for though. Better late than never but it's two series too late if you ask me. Why not tomorrow?

Is anyone else here having huge trouble reading SNY's new ball-strike counter on their ticker? 'Cause I surely am.

Prolly cuz a lefty's starting

Yeah. Too many designers don't know when to leave well-enough alone.
Sometimes the easiest way to say it's 1-and-2 is to put up a graphic that says 1-2

Yeah but it sounds as if Collins intends to move Duda up one slot no matter the pitcher, and not just against righties.

That new ticker blows. The runners on base graphic isn't so clear either. Who was the test audience? Mr. Magoo? The same guy that designed CF's scoreboards?

I like the new SNY ticket and I thought it'd generally been met with approval. I haven't had any problem with besides the normal training my eyes where to look for each bit of data. much better than in previous years.

How does a play like that get scored? It wouldn't be a passed ball, because the runner didn't advance successfully. Is it a caught stealing? That's not quite right either.

I was at the game too. Nice, crisp, fun game to attend. Sat, for the first time, in the 400 section, the Promenade boxes. (In my previous four trips to Citi, I was always in the 500 section, Promenade Reserved.) From where I was sitting, I couldn't tell if Wright's homer was credited to the new fences. Duda's first homer clearly was, and his second one clearly wasn't.

We didn't wander into the Shake Shack area at all, so I don't know what the lines were like. Didn't matter; my favorite Citi Field sandwich is the turkey and mozzarella hero, with roasted red peppers and marinated mushrooms, from Mama's of Corona. If I went to 100 games a year, I'd probably eat there 85 to 90 times.

They had some cool retro-looking t-shirts in the gift shop, but I lost interest when I saw the prices. $34.99 for a t-shirt? No thanks.

I think it is a caught stealing. Isn't that the same way you'd score it if a runner had broken to 2nd base when a ball trickled away, or via a delayed steal or other non-conventional advance?
Or is it just treated as "out advancing" the way you would for a runner trying to go 1st to 3rd? IOW, a simple 2-1 putout with no other specific designation.
Definitely no on the PB.

HRs old vs new fences:
Wright - HR either way
Duda - no HR 1st time, yes 2nd time
Keith says he (and by 'He' he means some SNY-employed lackey near him) is going to track those all year.
