metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 two questions:do we need exactly 12 teams in the league to be viable?mind if i invite two other players who i think might be interested? one is a mets fan, the other a red sox fan. my other frined, mohawk red flyers, is good for either of the candidate draft dates, but prefers thursday 22 march, as do i.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 I don't think we need 12, although I don't see any clear indication either way.Go ahead, invite them. Sell them on 3/22 though.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 ok, i've got the red sox fan in, and i've also got a phillies fan. sorry about that. not sure if my mets fan friend is interested yet.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 Worst comes to worst I'm sure a twitter begging would get us one or two more. Anyway, anyone want to 'practice' and fill out my other team for me on Saturday 3/10 at like 5?

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Forgot we were doing this. I take it there's room for one more?

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I'm in so long as the draft isn't the 23d or 24th. You threw me with the thread title.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 6, 2012 Author Posted March 6, 2012 we got any more fence-sitters? we've got 9, so one more to even it out would be nice (although it's not head to head so it don't matter real much, 9 is rather poetic)
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 My non-CPF friend says he can't get in the league with the password. What gives?

It claims there are still 3 spots available.Tell him to try again and if not let me know his team/account name and I'll email them about it.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Yeah he says he went to "join existing league" tab and it told him the password wasn't cromulent.I invited him from that page, we'll see if it works. Confusing web page for sure.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Hey he's in "Duda Wright Things"
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 13, 2012 Author Posted March 13, 2012 Good.2 spots left, I suppose we should try to fill them but I'm not sure it matters.Everyone still good on the 3/22 8:30 pm draft time/date? It's not really something you can miss. There's some time to work the free agent auction after the draft, but probably not to fill a competitive team.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Ceetar--I apologize but I can't participate this year.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 16, 2012 Author Posted March 16, 2012 bmfc1 wrote:Ceetar--I apologize but I can't participate this year.No big deal, maybe you can swipe a team next year if someone drops out.speaking of which, we have 11. 1 more fills the league..takers? I may post it to twitter and cherry pick a 12th if we don't find one, just for completeness sake.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 What the heck, I'll give it a go. Worst that can happen is that I come in last, right?I'll get myself registered over the weekend.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Is this NL only or both leagues?
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 16, 2012 Author Posted March 16, 2012 TransMonk wrote:Is this NL only or both leagues?the entire subset of major and minor league players included guys that aren't current (I imagine Andy Pettitte was already in there somewhere for example) I believe only major league players on the active roster accumulate stats though, but you've got a 40 man roster, and if you want to snag, say Bryce Harper, in the hopes that he'll be good at the end of this year or next year, that's your prerogative. I grabbed Nieuwenhuis in another league for instance.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Got it. I'm reading through on all the stuff on Fangraphs and it sounds fun.The last time I played fantasy baseball was 1991. I was the youngest owner in a keeper league that held a live auction. Back then I would wait for the Sporting News to come out on the weekend that listed all of the stats for all of the teams and then I would look all of my players up and keep their stats by hand each week. The commissioner would release standings every month printed by a service on a dot-matrix printer.I haven't played since the advent of internet stat compiling. I'm looking forward to it, but am admittedly a bit rusty on the process. I'll brush up and be ready to go on Thursday.

(I multi'tasked an auction last week)
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 *avi...I'm losing it today. Seriously.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 21, 2012 Author Posted March 21, 2012 Tomorrow! The auction draft window is viewable if you want to get a sense for the controls. Anyone got any questions?
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Very cool. I was just thinking of this today.

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Hey is this league NL only or AL/NL?
