I've always only gone to a few games per year, living 300 miles away and all. I'll be going at least once, with Fboy, who is now a card carrying member of the Mets Kids Club. Maybe we go twice this year, in 2011 we saw them once in Florida and twice in Queens.

Most nights I'm more than content to sit in front of my 55" HDTV with a cold (and cheap) drink in hand, and watch from the comfort of my home.

I agree there, but the small percentage of the transaction fee that's kicked back to the Mets won't make or break 'em. What I did dislike about buying off of StubHUb is that (so I heard) some of the tickets the site offered were team controlled unsold tickets, rather than secondary market tickets. So buying a Met-owned ticket on StubHub was like buying directly from the Mets ticket office. Anyway, the Mets will use a different online service in 2012, right?

Yeah, from an artificially inflated price. The quality of the product presented and the pricepoint are still way off.

The comment came in the context of an assertion that the team will soon realize that lowering ticket prices is their best bet. Obviously, they can always be lower.

I'm not quite certain when a price becomes artificial.

Yankees lowered ticket prices too. (in a very similar manner if I recall) That's more a factor of the economy than the state of the team.

I'm not really convinced they're way off from the quality of product (meaning a baseball game at a terrific stadium, not the team itself). I think this is a factor my age. i didn't buy tickets in the early 90s or before that. my ticket stub for an Upper in 2000 against the Giants says $9. the comparable prom reserved seating is very comparable a whole 12 years later.

I heard those rumors too. I don't know if anyone proved it definitively but I believe it.

The primary market sales will be through Tickets.com which is...get ready for it...a wholly-owned subsidiary of MLB Advanced Media.

1. "Quality of product" = the team you're paying to see. A nice stadium makes for a good experience but people are always going to show up (or not show up) based on the quality of the team, irrespective of the quality of the stadium.

2. Promenade Reserved tickets are $28 (marquee) and $20 (classic) for 2012.
I don't see those as all that comparable to a Shea Upper Reserved Seat at $9 in August 2000 at Shea.

3. In fairness, the promenade level is not where the Mets have their big pricing problems, anyway.

I'm not 100 percent certain, but I'm leaning heavily towards not buying any tickets this year. (I'm pretty sure BetterHalfer will be okay with it.)

That's the plan in the Gwreck household.

Realistically, I know I will be going to opening day, Reyes' first game back and Beltran's first game back, but aside from those three, I'm making no other Mets commitments. It was very freeing to be able to change how I was going to spend my entertainment budget for 2012.

It's more of a "spending slowdown." Even in the worst years I was still going to Mets games and I don't think that will change for 2012, the first year in a while that I will be entering the season expecting a last-place finish.

From 2005-2011, I was averaging 30-35 games a year. Dropping that to the single digits is a big change.

Easy for me to say, being so far from New York. But I wouldn't want to let disagreements with owners get in the way of my enjoying my team.

I don't know of too many perfect team owners. My team is always my team. If I didn't renounce allegiance after June 15, 1977, I never will.

Go to the games and have fun.

I don't think anyone here is renouncing the Mets (certainly not me)...but it's safe to say that the Wilpons have indeed gotten in the way of enjoying the Mets.

The best outcome here results in the Wilpons selling the team as quickly as possible.

Yes, and the best way we can contribute to that outcome (in a small way) is by staying away from Citi Field as much as possible.

I'm almost certain I won't be attending any postseason games there in 2012.

We're also all commenting on the supposedly last place team on a holiday weekend in cold December.

If you have the chance to see Wright and Duda and Ike smack some home runs in May, you gonna turn around as say "No! Fred kicked my baby!"

Closing Day may be a thing, since Artie and I have done that the last two years.

So, I was in Queens for lunch and a few errands today, and I was driving the baby around to get her to nap, and I ended up giving blood at Citi for tickets. Loophole!

Nice. Did you take the traditional needle or did you let K-Rod punch you in the face?

Neither. Actually, entrusted care of my arm to a "friend" of management. I'll be bleeding for a while, yet.

Any ideas folks? If you buy a package this year do you get a crack at the All Star game at Citi, 2013?

gotta officially announce it first, but I imagine that will be based on seniority and ownership of 2013 season tickets, yes.

the Mets without a doubt will package an end of the season package geared towards renewing in 2013 with this carrot.

I would think a premium package?

Do the Mets get any kaching from hosting the All Star Game?

Funny that after all this time, I have no idea to the answer to this question. But since they haven't hosted one in my lifetime, you can understand my ignoramusness.

at the very least they get the ticket sales from selling a game out at World Series prices including all the luxury suites. That's probably well over $5million just from ticket sales. (I think I paid $200 for a my SRO ticket strip in 2006 in Pittsburgh..)

There's probably at least some uptick related to season ticket sales from people wanting to have that access.

Presumably they get to raise the prices on advertising on all in-stadium stuff, that will be seen on walls during the events.
