That's probably well over $5million just from ticket sales.Nope.From the Major Leage Constitution, Article X, Section 2:All-Star Game receipts from the sale of tickets (net of applicable local taxes) shall be transmitted by the host Club to the Major League Central Fund without deduction for expenses, but the host Club may retain revenues received from related activities until the final accounting and settlement. The net proceeds of each such game and related activities after the payment of expenses shall be deposited in the Major League Central Fund and shall be credited to the Major League Clubs equally.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 uh oh, could they actually _lose_ money from the game? heh. They'll probably still get the parking, unless that counts a related expense? or do they mean like fanfests?
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 They essentially get 1/30th of everything. The MLB central fund receives money from a whole host of sources including, most significantly, national TV rights money. After paying certain expenses and keeping a strategic reserve, the Central Fund makes annual payments of equal amounts to each team.

Guest jwmann2 Guests Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Under 2 million is not a hard stretch. The Reds did it in 2007 and the Royals seem to do it every year. Then again, I doubt the Mets could fall under that playing in New York.
