When can we admit that this Parnell as a closer experiment has failed?

Personally I'm going to wait for more than around a dozen or so tries before declaring it a dead issue for now and beyond.

Tejada can be an awful tuff out. He's making me fall in love.

Yeah, I'm with Gary, I would have walked him if I'm Cincy

... and now it turns out that they do anyway (although less than intentionally).

Great job by the starting 2B for '12.

We get it Ronnie: you love Chapman (the Reds pitcher, not themetfairy).

And that rally comes up empty as Terry headscratchingly sticks with Harris while Paulino sits and watches.

Eh, I didn't mind that one. Harris is a better contact guy and faster.

And now the Herrera for the lefty crowd gets a long double (should have been a triple and almost was a HR) for their trouble.

Hey Wayne, Dontrelle doesn't warrant an "looking unfamiliar" in a number when he hasn't been much since his Florida days in #35 (and I had to look that up). To say nothing about the fact that he didn't wear 35 in Detroit either.

Not even Wayne's most inane attempt at making a "I know baseball history" remark. While talking about the Cards and Astros game, he brought up the rivalry between the two teams back in the early to mid 2000s, as if it's been a relevant part of the game since 2006, the last time the Astros finished 2nd or better in the Central.

Dickey's season might not be over, after all.

What's contact going to do for you? There were two outs. It's a guy who's hit .239 against lefties over the course of his career versus a guy who's hit .330.

What do we call the pitcher-PHing thing? Is there a name for it? The Reverse-LaRussa? The Half-Switch? A Brown Ruffing?

I hate it when Dusty Baker's right about things. It makes the edges of my world a little more fuzzy.

Amazing what you can accomplish when you:
a) use the bunt as an offensive weapon rather than a passive strategy
B) are able to make actual bat-to-ball contact when bunting

Can't bunt, can't hit-and-run.
