Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I don't get the point of trying to give guys days off if Terry's going to let them talk him into letting them play anyway. Reyes today isn't the first time it's happened. If you feel Reyes would benefit from a rest, then do it.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Carter used to regularly talk Davey Johnson out of days off.Who was supposed to be today's shortstop? I'm curious who our backup actually is.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I believe it's Turner, with Harris playing second.

I'm curious who our backup actually is.Turner. Collins cited it on his WFAN interview yesterday. he mentioned giving Turner a day off yesterday because he wanted him fresh because he was thinking of giving Reyes a day off today and he'd be the guy. But reports this morning suggest Reyes talked his way back into the lineup. It's just that he's coming off a hamstring strain, it's hot, he's shown signs in the past of growing fatigued as the season winds down (but who knows, maybe that was residual thyroid issues caused by eating a lot of shellfish in the summer time?) on the o ther hand, he's freaking awesome and you want him in the lineup always.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 He did something that suprised me last night --- rippling a ball down the line in right and pulling up halfway to second and trotting in. If he doesn't go for three there, he usually at least tears through second to force a throw before slamming on the breaks before the cutoff man can throw behind him. Probably best that he didn't pull that because Bruce came up cleanly with the ball and he can throw and there were two outs.Either he was taking it easy because of his leg or he's growing up and just made the smart choice.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Anybody joining the team to replace Beltran? Evans? Baxter? Will the 911th Met debut on 9/11?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Tracky said, of all people, Mike Nickeas, but it depended upon when the deal was OKayed.Press conference at noon.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I don't think they can call Evans back up quite yet as he hasn't been in the minors for 10 days yet.

I don't really like that they're choosing guys based on the Bisons situation and not the Mets..
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I'm thinking it maybe is for Metly reasons, as in, "I can't say so yet, but Paulino's heading to the Indians."
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Paulino would be going to a different Indian burial ground.

Guest attgig Guests Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 pagan got crossed up, and changed direction. it bounced off his glove... damn you pagan and your bad defense in 2011. look like pagan of 2010!
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I think CF needs to be addressed in the offseason. Pagan's 2010 was nice, but he has regressed on both offense and defense.
