Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Wasn't this the game that all the Latin players were going to boycott over the Arizona immigration law?Guess they forgot.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2011 Author Posted July 12, 2011 This cannot be repeated enough: the best SS in NY, who is on the DL, showed up for the ASG, took batting practice, and was introduced before the game. The other SS in NY, who is beloved by the media, who is not on the DL, did not show up for the ASG, did not take batting practice, and was not introduced before the game.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Agree with ya man.The sound is absolutely terrible .
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2011 Author Posted July 12, 2011 Start the frigging game already.

Well, maybe not so much, but when you are that outspoken, one would have thought some follow through on your threat in some fashion would be in order.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 (edited) Sorry for being insensitive but do they need to ram a national tragedy down our throats? Edited July 12, 2011 by Guest
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 FWIW, would this be happening if A) the ASG was not in Phoenix and/or one of the victims was tragically related to a professional scout?Does it matter? No, not really, but that was back in January, not like it was in May or June. I guess the only way I can see it being worthwhile is if Congresswoman Giffords throws out the, or one of the first pitches.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 I forget each year how much I hate the All-Star Game. I find it brings me much more bitterness than joy.I can guarantee that I will be watching thrice-seen re-runs of The Office as soon as Beltran is pulled.Oh...and fuck you, Joe Buck.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 AND we have no idea who threw out the ceremonial first pitch? Geez! Not I really care, but I think this is the first time ever that it has been skipped in the telecast.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 The best player in the league is Jose. You can pick and choose your league and Jose though.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2011 Author Posted July 12, 2011 Thanks Joe. That was awesome.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 So five of the 80-some players who were named to the two teams didn't show up - and four of them are Yanquis!Yeah, those were individual decisions and not some organizational edict.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2011 Author Posted July 12, 2011 In case you missed it because you thought it was the usual crap spewing from Buck's mouth... 79 of the 84 All-Stars showed up. Two just had surgery. The other three: MFYs Jeter, Sabathia, Rivera.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 How about you talk about the guys who are injured and or hurt who showed up because they feel it's an honor?that's aimed at the FOX crew.

It's aimed at everyone, that spent all day killing the All-Star game and emphasizing that even the players don't want to be there. Almost all of them did. I don't even blame Sabathia. He wasn't selected, said he'd go on vacation, and then was named last minute anyway even though he was pitching.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 It's hard to be 'upset' that the AL just took the lead, when it's off Cliff Lee, and was Adrian Gonzalez.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Bautista could have had his Pete Rose moment right there at the plate.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Beltran with a hit that the SS might have made a play on.....wow FOX interviewing Justin Timderlake star of some upcoming movie.....and it's painful
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Fielder with a bomb to a big part of the park....3-1 NL.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Can we sign Prince Fielder? 3-run home run scores Beltran. Beltran and Fielder high-five at home plate..obviously they're schmoozing for next year right?Anyway, Justin Timberlake totally seemed sarcastic when he kept saying "Joe you call a great game"

Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 If all the MFY's were at the game, I'm sure the AL would be up by 5 runs and Rivera would shut down the NL in the 9th.
Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Imagine he was still wearing a Mets' uniform. That was a great deal. Heard him with Chris Russo the other day. Great perspective and handle on things.

Berkman: 24 HR, 63 RBI, .290/.404/.602haven't played the Cardinals?, wow....Berkman looked shot with the MFY's last season.....that line is incredible , definite All-Star.Hey, playing like dog shit as a Yankee and then immediately returning to your prior All Star worthy level of performance once your are freed from the Bronx really endears a player to me. Go Lance, go.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Ha-ha! The league we're not in sucks!
