metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Great thread titleAlderson said won't see Davis any ime soon and might need surgery. If surgery needed, likely to miss rest of year #MetsSherman
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Won't he possibly miss some of next year too? I thought microfracture surgery was pretty serious and long recovering stuff? Or have they started to perfect it a little?either way, rough news. But due to the conservation of news, the update on Wright tomorrow has to be positive to balance this right?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Wright has a broken back, and played for a month with it, he's allowed to take all year to recover if he needs it.This dork got bumped into on the field and is crippled. WTF

Ike'll likely be back this weekend and win the NL MVP by hitting 65 HR's from here on out.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Lamest injury since Piazza ruptured his groin on an inside pitch.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Giving credit here to JCL who's been all over Davis on this injury from the get go.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 I guess Rubin's suspicion's were correct.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Incredible. He bumped into a teammate on a popup when he didn't even have to be there. Other than a pitcher breaking a finger after punching the dugout wall, this might be one of the stupidest injuries in history.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 On the plus side, the cast is coming off! Also, SugarPants' knee must be SUPERstrong!
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 I'm submitting my voice of doom prediction post to this thread and guessing that Ike's 2011 is over and done. If that ankle hasn't healed at all since Ike sustained his injury, I'm guessing that nothing's gonna happen in the next few weeks, either. It's in management's interest to underplay the severity of Ike's injury so that no fans are further discouraged from purchasing Summer tickets in advance.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Geez, if he was a horse, they'd take him out behind the barn and shoot him.

batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 This dork got bumped into on the field and is crippled. WTFI took a look at the play in question. It seemed to me that the collision between Ike and Wright wasn't the direct cause of Ike's injury. At about the moment when the two fielders collided, Davis took a nasty misstep on the way to the ball. Ike misstepped with his left foot and instead of landing on the bottom, or sole, of his left foot, landed mostly on the side of his left foot. I found a diagram on the web that I think best approximates Ike's misstep:but Ike's ankle twist was worse than what is depicted in the diagram above, in that more of the outside of Ike's left foot landed on the ground than what is shown above -- maybe even Ike's outside ankle touched the ground on his misstep. And then putting all of Ike's weight on that step had to have been the deal breaker. Ouch.Ike then limped back to first base and finished the rest of the inning, taking another throw and recording a putout before eventually being removed from the lineup.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Soupcan knew it was a rolled ankle all along - even if Gary & co didn't seem to:viewtopic.php?f=14&t=16156&start=25
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Obviously, I'm not disputing the guy is seriously injured, I'm just venting about my frustrationI rolled my ankle something awful when I was in my 20s, felt like the top of my foot was on the ground, it made a noise, it was fucking gross and I get chills thinking about that moment still ... and I was back competing in five (5) weeks.
