well, i'm not going to start projecting injuries on him. If he starts 150 games next year, it's a pretty safe bet he'll get 176 hits in 158ish games.

Here's hoping it's second place for David, at least next year. If he wants to catch and pass Jose at some later date, that's up to him.

There's always the wet dream scenario, where Jose gets his 3,000th, and then two batters later, David get his 3,000th with a homer that drives him in....

From 2005 through 2010 Wright played no fewer than 154 in a season and no more than 160, in those six seasons he hit 176 and better four times , he dipped to 164 in 2009 but played in only 144 games.His most hits in a season came in 2007 with 196 hits in 160 games.

a 'safe bet' is what I meant. I'd say the odds are in favor of it happening.

but then, I'm going to bet on the Mets to win the World Series too. But my logic there is a $5 investment pays for my Jose Reyes WS Jersey.
