No lineup yet as they wait to see if Bay shows up but Rubin reports that Hu is starting at 2d.

Good for yu, Hu. Got to see if he can do anything in a start before we piss off that Flushing Times reporter.

I like our chances for victory today. Just a feeling.

I predicted a 5-2 win in my post about the Mets fans at the Giants game last night. I'm thinking 7 innings for Pelfrey, 2 runs score on a walk-hit-double. Izzy, K-Rod, game. Really I just want a mostly stressfree win and move on to the Dodgers.

Hu batting second since he's playing second. Please tell me Terry just found an old lineup card on the dugout floor or something. I'm having jerry flashbacks.

I'm just happy to see him in the lineup, but yeah, I predict two or rally-rotting three bunts by Hu.

Hu a lifetime 1.000 batter vs. Sanchez. 1-for-1.

BOLD PREDICTION: Hu's average against Sanchez will be lower at day's end today.
BOLD PREDICTION #2: One or more of those outs will be via strikeout.

BOLD PREDICTION #3: Jonathan Sanchez will strike out multiple Met hitters.
BOLD PREDICTION #4: His goatee will look impeccable as he does so.

Fella next to me Tuesday night told me he likes to predict the score ahead of time. He had it Mets 5 Giants 3. He was off completely. But I admired that he came up with the score first and then decided it would be the Mets winning.

Fuck me! This loss will be on Terry.

If Hu is free to play his game, I fully expect him to shine.

If he's free to play his game, the crowd will want to hold on to their hats. Because he will make more wind than an electric fan at a chili cookoff.

Great lineup, White Jerry.

You had better be posting from Russia. Hu is going to rock your corrupt Godless system like a dozen Perestroikas.

"Hu... Hu... is this the gentleman whose offensive highlight this year was that fly out?

Well, cut off my head, draw and quarter me, and throw me in the river, but I'm not sure I'd want that gentleman hitting second in MY lineup."

I'm not sure he's proven enough to bat 8th. 9th until he gets a hit.

Sure but a few things:

1) Neither has Hairston.
2) Only one guy can bat eighth.
3) He's younger, and if you want to invest in a guy's future, you might want to put him somewhere where he can succeed. He's on the verge of being jettisoned as it is. Batting Duda second helped him last year, didn't it?
4) We all lamented the failures of the bottom of the lineup last night. Perhaps this is a strategic effort by Jerryterry to break up the suckers.

I don't want him second either, but I'm happy to see him get a start before he's flushed away. It's not like I'll miss Turner.

Day games oft lead to strange lineup configurations.

White Willie alliterates so much better.

I know, but Jerry's the second-baseman-bats-second/first-baseman-bats-cleanup guy, whereas Willie would have Ike batting 7th or 8th, until he "earns" his way northward on the lineup card.

Willie did the second baseman bats second thing, too (Matsui/Cairo). And Ike, ideally, shouldn't be batting sixth.

Forgot about Cairo. You're right.

Still, Manuel elevated it to dada-esque heights, didn't he?

If you believe that AndyHandy and Argenis and Alex Cora should never ever have batted higher than 7th, then yes, Jerry did.

And for singular moments of what the fuck is up with that lineup, Catalanotto in the four-hole is tough to trump. Wasn't that an extension on the second baseman bats second theme?

Left to right: Wright, Reyes, Hu, Davis. That's 18 letters total for the infield. Have the Mets ever used fewer to start a game?

I'll have to put finding an answer to that on my to-do list.
