He cracked a line drive off his foot off of Tim Hudson, went down in agony, got up and homered. Next pitch! HA!!But he cricled the bases in torture, completed his glorious circuit, and his season was over. Broken foot.Last Word: It's easy to forget the bittersweet end to Hernndez's campaign (it came in a 4-2 loss in support of a tough-luck start by Chillin' Gee), so it's unclear how whole he'll be come spring. He's become such an afterthought particularl after the acquisition of fellow-defense-first infielder Chin-Lung Hu that I felt certain he'd be DFA'd today, as any potential team trying to claim in waivers might fear his injury. But he wasnt DFA'd, so I suppose he's not an afterthought with the MetsWhat do you expect of Luis Hernndez in 2011?

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I expect to forget he was a Met by my first regular season game.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 No future, no future, no future for you.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I expect him to get ZERO NYM ABs in 2011
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I'm feeling more charitable than most of you so I'm predicting he'll have an Argenis Reyes 2009-kinda year:9 games, 18 PA, 2-17 (.118/.167/.118) with a walk and stolen base.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 After Reyes goes down with a season long injury and Uranus is entrenched at 2nd base Luis will shine as the SS.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 To be a similar ballplayer as Anderson Hernandez and shipped to the Nationals.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 He has no grade point average.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I conflate him with every shitty Latino Mets middle infielder of the last 20 years.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Luis is one of those longtime minor leaguers I like to root for to finally get a chance to play in the majors for a while. (More than a cuppa' joe)At the end of last season, I expected him to be the right handed platoon second baseman this year, sharing time with whichever lefty hitting second basemen were on the roster at the time. (Preferrably Murphy or Turner).Nobody they acquired since seems to be a strong enough candidate to become an every day second baseman, so my expectations remain the same.Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 25, 2011 Author Posted January 25, 2011 I'd say that Emaus and Hu are ahead of him among righthanded platoon possiblitiies. Turner might be also (he hits righty), except he has options.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 I expect him to be a footnote in Mets lore and toil in obscurity at Buffalo for the entire season.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 25, 2011 Author Posted January 25, 2011 Luis becomes the first guy on the 40 in camp.Hatey hatey haters.
