batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 What questions? What are we supposed to be asking Adam Rubin? If he paints his toenails? How many Home Runs will Jason Bay hit next season? Who will replace Jerry Manuel? Whether Adam prefers chocolate over vanilla? Some other flavor? I don't get this.

duan Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I'll ask him what he thinks about the Irish Bailout (or expensive loan), everyone else in the world has had their say to why not adam.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I have no desire to 'chat' with that guy.Someone ask him if he's in the running for the scouting job.

I could see it getting ugly there as Trichet started saying that it was out of line and all bets were off.

Ask Adam what he thinks of that Words of Wisdom baseball card where Willie Randolph channels Casey: The Nutty Professor as the Ol' Perfesser.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Then they have an Irish language fight, and Rubin calls Lenihan a bhastard.

Those were answers to separate questions. The part about Havens "resting comfortably" is certainly a crack about him constantly being in a state where he's recovering from something - but it was unrelated to whatever he said about Mookie.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2010 Author Posted November 22, 2010 Steve (NY)Wilmer Flores is going to out-grow SS. Where do you see him fitting in?? 3B?? LF?? Are the Miguel Cabrera comparisons too pre-mature???Adam Rubin (12:33 PM)That's up to the organization. I got scolded by a scout about a Cabrera comparison, so I'm not going there again. 3B or corner OF is on the mark, though.outgrow as in literally outgrow ?
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2010 Author Posted November 22, 2010 This is why we chat with Rubin batmagExplosive stuffBy the way, and I been sitting on this stat for weeks because I didn't want to incite a riot, but do you know how many fans per game more the Brooklyn Cyclones averaged in 2010 with Wally Backman as opposed to 2009 with Pedro Lopez at the helm? Nine fans per game. The enthusiasm in the stadium may have been far greater for Wally Backman, but it did not bear itself out in an attendance spike.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 outgrow as in literally outgrow ?He's already reportedly VERY slow afoot and teenagers still growing don't generally get faster/quicker as they age - so, yeah, outgrow in both a physical sense but also in that MOST teenage short-stops don't stay there so he was almost a certainty to get moved off there as he advances to higher levels and faces stiffer competition whether he gets a lot bigger or not.

A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Dan R. (Folsom, CA)So, what's the deal with Warthen staying over Collins picking his own guy? I know he did a decent job, but that bullpen wasn't exactly incredible, Dickey came up to the majors on fire already, and Perez, Maine and for a while Pelfrey all regressed considerably. He also threw Omir Santos under the bus last offseason.. Does he have embarrassing photos of the Wilpons or something?Adam Rubin (12:14 PM)Warthen did a solid job in 2010 given what he had to work with. Niese took a step forward with the cutter, the bullpen performed great despite underwhelming personnel. Maine was injured. And the players privately threw Omir Santos under the bus all the time, for whatever that's worth. Even guys in Binghamton. I don't know what happened with Dave Wallace being a consideration -- whether TC was overruled, Wallace wasn't interested at this stage of his life, or Collins really wanted Warthen all along. Warthen just received the call a few hours ago inviting him back, so it's certainly fluid and the entire story has not come out yet. What happened w/ Omir Santos last year?Edit: added the quote so you'se know what the eff i'm talking about.
