Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 According to Metsblog, the Padres GM Jed Hoyer has confirmed that Alderson has asked permission to speak to Paul DePodesta. How cool would that be if we got him? I can't believe how excited I am over this. I realize that the track records of some of these deputies aren't exactly stellar, but with the Mets resources, I feel like this team could become something credible.

He was basically sitting in a meeting with Theo Epstein and got up and left for NY. Hasn't word got out that Jeffy's a big bad wolf?

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 I like it , revisionist history is kind to DePodesta and the mess with the Dodgers; if you look back at his time there it wasn't all bad and anyway when McCourt came he fired him, some say a few of the local hacks who ere very anti-moneyball helped sway McCourt.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Adam Rubin is reporting via twitter that Depodesta will join the Mets.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Opposite Mets! They had to be the dumbest team in baseball for 5 years in order to realize they should have been the smartest.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Bruce was the one who scouted Matsui
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 I'm sure more than a few scouted Matsui. It's more true to say that he helped woo Matsui.

Guest Vince Coleman Firecracker Guests Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Really hope DePodesata keeps up his blog. He's been really good about actually explaining moves to fans.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Omar was named Vice President of the Pepsi Party Patrol.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Well, get used to hacky columnists making reference to "slide-rulers" and Dungeons & Dragons whenever we lose 3 in a row for the next few years.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Oh, man, Joe Morgan is going to be impossible, isn't he?"You see, what the Mets don't seem to realize is that baseball isn't played on a computer."
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 And that's why you mute Joe Morgan. (Well, that and the convenient factual errors and fabrications he makes when recounting his career. And the Big Red Machine boasting. And the weird, random chuckling.)If not for postseason radio, I wouldn't remember the sound of his voice.
