Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 I suppose this can't be considered a surprise. The "George would have wanted it this way!" sentiment probably ran pretty deep within the organization and son Fredo Hank Steinbrenner likely demanded the dimensions as one final "Am I good enough for you now...DAD?!?" gesture.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 What would your one O'Donnell say about this masturbation palace?, I read it reads in part "the greatest owner in ALL of sports", like ever.....The link was a pretty good read.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 What's wrong? Steinbrenner won SEVEN championships. How many did Berra win? Mantle? DiMaggio? Exac -- oh, wait.Well, at least it makes up for the real HoF plaque he should never, ever, ever get. Ever.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Don't know if you can read what it says, but I took a magnifying glass and made it out:Fuck you, Mantle. I'm huge, you're tiny. You're dead. I'm more recently alive. Yeah, just stand there off my right shoulder with your inconsequential 536 home runs. Have another belt, you putz. You call that a monument? My grandchildren play with bigger blocks. They play with Park Avenue. What's that? Old joke? You're the old joke, Mantle. I could buy and sell you if I wasn't dead. Same goes for the rest of you stiffs. Stengel over there -- what are you laughing at? I bought you those players you won with. You think it was Dan Topping and Del Webb? When I bought this sorry-ass team, I bought the rights to everything that had been done before. I'm the one who signed Moose Skowron, for fuck's sake. That's how big I am; I bag moose. Now where's that Pope plaque? I got a few things to tell him about my accommodations. Upgrade me to a suite for fuck's sake and then don't tell everybody how secretly wonderful I am.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Ruppert's plaque's finally been corrected, at least:"Through whose vision and courage the team that Steinbrenner would gradually mold into a world-class organization/income-generation machine did not fall into decrepitude before Steinbrenner had a chance to weave his singular brand of man-FUPA-endowed magic. Also, beer guy."

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Even the image on the plaque looks like somebody's about to get ripped and canned.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 If you look closely at the image on the plaque, it looks like George Steinbrenner being played by John Goodman.Later
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 It looks likes it's larger than the three original, on-field monuments combined.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 I wonder if a batter hits the plaque with a home run, does he win a suit?Later
