Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 The Angels won 97 games without Rodriguez last year. He could leave the Mets tomorrow and with a little bit of effort and creativity we'd never miss him either.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 On edit: screw the good jump, I forgot that wasn't even the tying run. Just embarrassing.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 That don't really work for nothin if you never saw F-Troop.If you have, you say that like the chief said : "IT IS BALLOON!"
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 I'll take it but FML, we are so doomed.[/quote:2j92rfph]I'll go out there on a limb and this "eighth-inning guy" stuff will make me break my remote control later this season.Guys who can't hack it as a starter but can crank it up to be somewhat effective in short bursts shouldn't be anywhere near the top of a winning team's payroll.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 I have no problem with the "brand name" closer generally; my gripe (since 2008) has been the totally dipshit management of the 'pen by Jerry.[/quote:2amovpdt]Yeah, but it's the Brand Name-ness that contributes to the dipshittery.

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Driving south today, listened to much of the game on XM and caught the last three outs here in our hotel room. Loved the pickoff ending.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 It's funny, by the numbers K-Rod is having exactly the kind of season he put up regularly in Anaheim, and yet nothing ever seems easy with him.[/quote:3h1i8xup]And he blew games (7 in his record year) and walked batters out there too. It's just that;1) you tend not to notice those things if it's not YOUR closerand2) It just seems that the small-ball playing Angels played a ton of close games so the volume of chances he got spread out the bad games and I suspect he rarely pitched non-save games out there.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 I wonder if bmfc is sitting on third base field level, saw someonea couple of times that kinda looked like him.[/quote:221vrigt]Yes I was. Section 112, near the male cheerleader.

One of the lower-level staircases --- the one right by Ben's Chili Bowl, if you believe it --- went unguarded all night, so our $18 tickets bought us a fine night down with the swells. Beautiful evening, even with the un-necessary bullpen adventure. You had a couple of dickweeds with Alex Ovekchin jerseys sitting behind you, amiright?
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
