Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 That don't really work for nothin if you never saw F-Troop.If you have, you say that like the chief said : "IT IS BALLOON!"

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 I guess what Jerrys tryin to do here is get this game into a save situation for K-Rod.He's such a considerate manager

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Course K-Rod is greeted with a line single.5-2.Tying run comes to the plate.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Just wanna kill Jerry sometimes. What a joke.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Crazy thing is Jerry will blame this on the lack of an 8th inning shutdown guy, never acknowledging he doesn't have a real 9th inning stopper either.Geezus.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Books never written:Effective bullpen management, by J. Manuel.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Hahahaha, you can't read that in any book.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 I'll take it but FML, we are so doomed.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 And K-Rod gets the damn save. Yay. (After giving up hits to the only two batters he faced).
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Win as ugly as those white hats. That was fun!
Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Very industrious. He wasn't getting any hitters out!
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 I agree totally with Gary's rant against managing to the statistics rather than managing to the game.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Your other favorite closer just blew the save in Atlanta.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Coras sayin that was not a called play, and it was all Tejada!

What I really hate is the lack of imagination and waste of money and energy that goes into the whole idea of a Brand Name Closer. At least the Braves will be let down by Wagner less expensively than he dicked the Mets.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Tejada scores big-time points in my book for having the presence of mind to block the base.Utterly inexcusable baserunning, though. Sure you want to get a good jump, but not at the risk of letting a struggling pitcher get out of the inning without throwing home. It's funny, by the numbers K-Rod is having exactly the kind of season he put up regularly in Anaheim, and yet nothing ever seems easy with him.

There were about 15 posts between yours and mine (unintentionally).I have no problem with the "brand name" closer generally; my gripe (since 2008) has been the totally dipshit management of the 'pen by Jerry.
