I'm in San Juan--yes, I miss the Mets by a week--and I saw this warning at the bottom of a menu at a local restaurant:

"To eat rare mets is detrimental to your health."

Eat the Mets
Eat the Mets
Step right up and eat the Mets

(ok, that was bad ... I'm tired)

Oh, I know this one.

Eat the Mets!
Eat the Mets!
Chew, digest, excrete the Mets!
Jos with salsa!
Wright with chives!
Players and coaches! Trainers and wives!
Because our young Mets, ex-Mets are tastey as hell!
You're really hungry? Then dine on Heath Bell!
Deep fried! Mince pied!
Dessens or Delgado or Rick Down!
Come and eat the M.E.T.S., Mets!
Of New York town!

Oh, the butcher and the baker and the guy who cuts your lawn
What will they tell you?
To eat the Mets!
Oh, they chop them all to pieces and they ship them to San Juan
What do they do there?
They eat the Mets!
'Cause down there folks chew on D'Amico and Koo
But Alomar tastes sweetest going down
Let the tourists taste the ball club
The Mets of New York town!

Funniest song about cannibalism ever.

I'm guessing that's a very short list.

There's at least one other. Story here, lyrics here.

I think there may have been another on by Tom Lehrer. (I hold You Hand In Mine - ???) But I don't recall if it was just gruesome or about cannibalism.

The first thing I thought of was Total Coelho. The second was Shriekback.

And yet the Fine Young Cannibals never had a hit within this genre. They may have missed out on a good thing.

And that drives me crazy.

Suspicious minds wonder how this could happen.

I guess Sheb Wooley's 1958 hit about the one-eyed, one-horned 'Flying Purple People Eater' doesn't really fit in this category as it's unclear whether the eater is actually a human - y'know, with the one eye/one horn thing going on and all, plus the part about being able to fly.

Oh no old man.
That fits perfectly.
