WOW, Ramirez was less than hustling out of the box on that.....made the difference. I thought Wright had no chance with that.

Read Andy Martino's In-Game Live Blog from bottom to top.

9:57: David Wright's bounce throw bails out the closer. Mets win 4-3. First win over Florida since Opening Day.

9:55: K-Rod has put two in with two out, and now must face Mr. Hanley.

9:45: Here's K-Rod to try and close it, after blowing one on Wednesday.

9:38: Elmer Dessens, coming up big in the seventh and eighth inning. Hard to imagine the Mets would send him down tomorrow, with so many others struggling.

9:20: Feliciano allows a single to Coghlan, who was 1 for 3 with a strikeout against Dickey. But Elmer Dessens ultimately escapes the inning by getting Hanley Ramirez to foul out.

9:12: A long standing ovation after Manuel pulls Dickey with one out in the seventh. In comes Feliciano.

9:06: The bust himself, Angel Pagan, hits an unfortunate check-swing grounder to leave the bases loaded.

9:02: The walk to Reyes loads the bases with two out and ends Sanchez's evening in Queens.

8:58: So it looks like the old knuckleballer can hit a little.

8:56: Ruben Tejada's first major league RBI comes on a fielder's choice and gives the Mets a 4-3 lead.

8:54: Me and Dirt Dart, having a one-on-one chat for all y'all's benefit.

8:53: Francoeur, one of the most complicated bust-not a bust-bust-not a bust players in recent memory, continues his resurgence with an RBI single that ties the game 3-3.

8:46: Another fast inning for Dickey in the sixth. This one is tight heading into the late innings.

8:37: Jose Reyes stranded at second to end the fifth. Still 3-2 Marlins. Did you know the Mets are 1-6 this year against the Fish? Not the way to win a wild card.

8:28: Innings that begin with a walk issued to the opposing pitcher usually do not end well, but this one did for Dickey. He overcame a walk, fielder's choice and double to post a scoreless fifth.

8:24: Methinks Sanchez was safe at first, and the call was correct.

8:15: I have one commenter, certainly making this blog a bust. Dirt man, he looks like a knuckleballer. Hard to say. The thing was not fooling people for a while, now it appears to be. Dickey showed an ability to find the knuckler during a game on Sunday in Milwaukee, when he didn't have it at first.

8:09: Fast fourth for Dickey, now promoted to quasi-bust.

8:01: The Mets had two on and no outs, and Angel Pagan, who has been an abject failure, hits into a double play. Then Jason Bay doubles home Dickey to make it 3-2.

7:56: Whatever works. Dickey singles off first base, scoring Tejada. 3-1.

7:55: Ruben Tejada would have been a complete bust had he not doubled to lead off the third.

7:52: Dickey gets out of an inning that could have been much worse for him. Still 3-0.

7:49: Ramirez is out at the plate trying to score on a Jorge Cantu single. Angel Pagan throws him out.

7:46: Hanley Ramirez, batting with the bases loaded and no one out, proves himself to be a total bust. He bounced into what shoulda been a GIDP, but that other bust at first base dropped the throw. One run scored on the fielder's choice, another on the E3.
3-0 Fish.

7:38: Replays showed Wright was out at second on that fielder's choice.

7:35: Dickey got out of the inning. He was redeemed.

7:29: Cody Ross triples to deep center, and scores on Cameron Maybin's single. Dickey is officially a bust.

7:24: Ike Davis strikes out to end the first and strand Jason Bay at second. He is officially a bust.

7:15: That's a 1-2-3 first for R.A. Dickey, forging his own path in the Met knuckleball tradition that began with Bob Moorhead.

7:10: Hi there. My name is Andy Martino and I cover the Mets for the New York Daily News. Do you have a moment to look at the starting lineup for tonight's game?

You do? Well, here it is.

Jose Reyes - SS
Angel Pagan - CF
Jason Bay - LF
Ike Davis - 1B
David Wright - 3B
Rod Barajas - C
Jeff Francoeur - RF
Ruben Tejada - 2B
R.A. Dickey - RHP

He's forcing those 'bust' jokes a bit too much.

Nice game.
- the triple by Ross was the only really hard hit ball off Dickey. It then took a soft single to get him in and the two-run inning was mostly seeing-eye stuff and less than great defense ... but he gave up nothing beyond that.
- nice defense by Wright but otherwise not so tight, especially around 2B and that goes for both teams. Nobody seemed to be able to get a good grip on the ball. Catchers too.
-big ups to Dessens
- Frankie's only problem (besides the usual walk) is that he's so out of position after he throws that he had no chance getting Coghlan after that swinging bunt. Mariano throws that guy out by two strides just on account of being in position.
- Angel picked a bad day to have a bad day. Runners were all over the place during his ABs
- Dickey looks like a pretty good all-around athlete

Danno: "YOU MEAN BUST HIM STEVE?"
Steve: "...I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE."

That looks like a pretty heavy weave for Hawai'i.

Leapfrog the oppsing Fishies puts the Mets in third place, 3.5 out.

Atlanta tied up with the Dodgers now, so there's still a half game to see about.

That fried bologna did look good, but I'll be sampling the Korean bbq
chicken next time out there. We didn't realize that on top of the nice
play by Wright and good finish by Ike that Ramirez was a slow poke out
of the shoot and not hustling after doggin' on the Mets and their fans again.

Good time, thanks for asking me.

(I'm certain that Rusted Root played an instrumental version of Led Zep's
No Quarter live (it came to me this morning) at like 1 1/2 speed but I
can't find any evidence of that on the interwebs)

Angel picked a bad day to have a bad day. Runners were all over the place during his ABs.

Angel has kind of fallen to earth since being slotted into the two-hole.
