Guest Kong76 Guests Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 McCarver said "elegant competitor." Do we have to chug our drink, or is that just a sip?[/quote:ra0iueb6]He really needs a good slap, they both do. Really.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Should have whapped Roy-Malachi on the wrist there.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 well the Mets squandered chances and are now down 6-0, its likely over with the complete game machine on the mound
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Um... Pelf isn't tired. Why the hell do you pull him with a six-run deficit after just 4 innings and 80 pitches?
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 I guess they were due for a shellackin', just wish the ride didn'tend with two on and a hard hit ball that almost knocked Utley over.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 This looks like a hard game to give a PotG score to.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 As so often happens in these cases the highly touted and anticipated pitchers never did happen.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Halladay's getting the Jordan treatment from the umps now (as Wright gets the umpire jumping down his throat for questioning a call). That bitching after the top of the fourth seems to have worked.I'm not saying the Pelf hook is without precedent-- I just think it's wrong. I also think I'd swallow the "hitting their way back into it" rationale for pulling Pelf a bit easier if Sargelet weren't hitting like Pelf-with-an-inner-ear-infection.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Matthews is on the roster. If they have to keep him out of a 6-0 game because he's not hitting well, what's the point? No repurcussions will come from getting Pelfrey out of the game.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Subtract Gary Matthews from the Mets Whose Met Tenures Ended in April list.Darn it.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Ineffective effort today.Howie kept saying Wright was coming up without realizing Tatis had replaced him the inning before.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 It was Still Early when we were winning, it's Still Early today.

You really have to wonder about the management over at WFAN, and what kind of team they're running.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 This is one of those games where I invoke my adage that if you're going to not hit, and going to not pitch, and going to not field, you might as well not do them all at the same time.An occasional one of these is better than the games where you beat yourself up playing the 'what if' game with a handful of plays. Yeah, if Reyes & Cora hold onto those little flares there in the 4th maybe the whole thing plays out differently but, then again, we'd still have to score at some point. The handful of balls we did hit hard mostly ended up as at'em balls. And oh yeah ... IMPEACH ASHIE!
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Whoops...guess l chose the wrong game to go to Philly. Was surprised to see a paucity of Mets fans at this one, even with ticket scarcity/prices being what the are.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Like Robert Redford, this game got ugly in a hurry.
