If the Phillies lose to SF, the Mets move into first place by half a game. But if the Phillies beat the Giants, the Mets pass SF for sole possession of the NL Wild Card spot.

Both SF and Phil. entered tonight's game with identical 11-8 records. The Mets are now 12-9.
