I'll likely not be watching tonight, but noticed we needed an IGT
for the rubber game. My head's still spinning from yesterday's game.

Rubin: Mike Jacobs has been designated for assignment to make room for Tobi Stoner.
Rubin: The Ike Davis era may begin this week. Murphy isn't ready. And after the Mets get through today with Stoner, they'll need a 1b.

METS:
Reyes SS
Cora 2B
Wright 3B
Catalanatto 1B
Francoeur RF

1.Schumaker
2. Ludwick

Molina again? Doesn't the SOB deserve a game off?

Nick Evans wasn't in the B-Mets lineup today. Maybe he's moving up to Buffalo to replace whoever (Davis or Carter) will be called up to replace Jacobs. Or maybe not. If they add Stoner and replace Jacobs, they'd still have to send someone else down.
I'm not sure when Murph's DL stint is over.
I didn't get a warm, fuzzy feeling seeing Frankie the Cat in the cleanup spot playing first in that lineup above.

That's a pretty sad looking line up the Mets are trotting out there for tonight's game. Hop0efully, the Cardinals will be resting some of their regulars too after last night's marathon.

Couldn't they have simply sent down Valdes? Nothing against him, but he's not pitching tonight so they could have sent him back to Buffalo and called up Stoner (didn't the Mets once have a stoner?).

Yes, its the same Tobi Stoner who pitched for the Mets last year.
If they send down Valdes, they can't recall him for 10 days unless a pitcher gets injured/ put on the DL (wink, wink). And Jerry likes to have another lefty option in the pen with Feliciano having the flu(?) this week.

Valdes was the third lefty. Takahashi is also a LHP.

Takahashi's a lefty changeup/screwball specialist; because of how they work to batters-- middle-in to lefties, middle-outside to righties-- those guys tend to be more effective against righties, and have slight reverse splits, if any (see: Johan).

Valdes is more of a trad tough-on-lefties guy.

I'm looking forward to tonight's game. I think it will be a big test.

If they can leave St. Louis having taken 2 out of 3 to a team that should have no problem winning their division, I can start to forgive the crappy, lazy play I've seen over the first 2 weeks. I may have to start believing in that runs-scored vs. run-against stat and take it to mean that the Mets may be better than their record indicates and they may start to get those seemingly elusive breaks and start to play like winners.

Obviously, if they continue to look like clowns tonight, they will be perceived as clowns to the national TV audience tonight. I hope all the talk from Maine this week wasn't just lip service. I hope he knows his job is on the line as it should be.

I really want this one.

Perhaps Jerry's been catching up on his soaps during the games and-- going by the name-- simply thinks he's a big Italo-Spaniard.

I don't mean to be a toolchest, but hearing complaints about Joe Morgan sucking has now surpassed Joe Morgan among things that suck to hear.

How to listen to tonight's game:

ESPN (video)
WFAN (audio) -- NOT on terrestrial radio, but through MLB.com's Gameday audio.

The sync (for me at least) is perfect.

This lineup's so screwy that the bottom might be stronger than the top. Works out well this inning with Pagan (batting 8th) up with the bases loaded. Let's see what he does here.

That was cool! Kinda like a triple!

Pagan's base-running blunders are so much more inept with each passing game, that they've gotten to the point that the opposition is now too confused to capitalize on his mistakes.
