Don't have the Mets lineup yet. Felipe Lopez was a late scratch yesterday. Back in there today. LaRussa is starting to shut down his automatics in anticipation of opening day. No Pujols today, and it's reported to be Holliday's last game also.

Tony is additonally giving a last audition today to some of his candidates for the last spot in the rotation. (Newsflash: the Mets aren't the only one who don't have five locks.) Lets smack 'em all around today.

  1. Felipe Lopez, 2B
  2. Brendan Ryan, SS
  3. Ryan Ludwick, RF
  4. Matt Holliday, LF
  5. Allen Craig, 1B
  6. David Freese, 3B
  7. Joe Mather, CF
  8. Jason LaRue, C
  9. Chris Carpenter, P

Two homers against Perez in the first (plus 2 doubles). Has he done anything this spring to make you think he deserves to start the year in the majors?

Yes. Those homers two years ago would've been balls. In a real game he'll adjust and throw the ball somewhere in the middle, the guy will whiff, and we'll cheer.

I would think pitchers (especially Pelfrey) would be more apt to challenge hitters in spring training. If anything, this is an eye opener that they aren't going to beat the guy with just the pitch, they need the location as well.

Apparently the Cardinals minor leaguers are beating up Santana now too.

I'm getting, uh, a little concerned.

Santana and Perez being pummeled in split-screen. This is the first spring game I've gotten around to watching down here. I guess they really wanted to pack in the misery.

JCL: does that mean you want to revise your 91-71 prediction?[/quote:ch10pr0h]

Yes, I now predict even more awesome shock with 92 wins.

seems like bay is having a little trouble getting to some of these balls...

maybe his defense was what everyone else thought it was...

Another shutdown job by Beta-Mexican Elmer Dessens, who's on nobody's shortlist.

I just can't trust a guy named Elmer.[/quote:1qxyobzw]

Mrs. Fudd does[/quote:2syyb6wj]

Yeah, but that was Bugs Bunny in a dress most of the time. His intentions were suspect.

Per Lennon ,

The moving truck has arrived

Which means it's almost time to head back to New York. The Mets will be loading up the truck over the next 24 hours. It leaves at noon on Wednesday.

Getting close to that magic day.

Hold it right there , is that City Field in the pic?
