The Mets only have one guy named "Davis" so there's no need to cast your vote for "Ike Davis."

Also, only one Rodriguez, so please just vote for Rodriguez, not FRodriguez.

Please remember, last names only! Thanks.

Voting for Wednesday afternoon's win over the Dodgers at Citi Field will close some time over the weekend, perhaps as early as Saturday morning. If you still have a vote to cast, please try to do so today.

Stay tuned next week for the first Players of the Month announcement of the new decade! The Pitcher of the Month has already been clinched, but Friday's game may end up determining the winners of the other two awards: Player of the Month and Reliever of the Month.

I assume Wright wins Player of the Decade, such as there is one.

Well, yes. We only voted for the last five years of the decade, and Wright won the annual award in four of those five years.

If we had voted all ten years, Piazza might have had a shot.

By most objective measures, he probably wasn't THE PotG, but Big Blanc Hank is getting little-to-nothing for nailing Votto at second in the 5th inning just before Phillips' HR (and chipping in a 1-for-3 day to boot).

I stopped participating in Schaefer Voting long ago because every time I voted I had a new asshole torn. And it wasn't Edgy doing the tearing. It was everyone.

In other words, "Physician heal thyself."

Forgive me for saying so but this reads to me like a bunch of B.S.
Then again, I sense my views on this issue are in the minority.

I agree with you too. People have been way too sensitive to perceived criticism of their votes, and stubborn about it too.

Thanks Ashie - I didn't realize that Ike was on base for the second Barajas homer.

Top 5 names that, when atop the PotG voting, tell you-- with about 85-90% accuracy-- how the game went without your having seen the score:

5) Manny Acosta
4) Luis Castillo
3) Pedro Feliciano
2) Alex Cora
1) Raul Valdes

Vote, you maniacs! It's the most important election or our lifetimes!

The other day I received a surprise review copy of 100 Things Mets Fans Should Know and Do -- or else they MUST DIE the other day. I noticed that this forum got a shout-out in section 81. (As did that other web site I'm involved in.) Silverman (has he ever visited us here, by the way?) made particular mention of the Schaefer awards. I thought it kinda neat that this rinky-dink little exercise, which only about ten or twelve people, at most, participate in, has been immortalized, so to speak, in a published volume.

Is Or Else They Must Die a follow up to Before They Die which
came out a couple of years ago? The mention is in the first
edition too. I don't know if Matt visits but it should be easy
to find out lol.

I haven't read this thread in awhile, Willet we love ya but that was
kinda whiny up top. I hope to start voting sometime soon, I'm just
not all that focused on Mets yet this year as it might seem.
