Jose "Wally Pipp" Reyes might want to get his ass back in the lineup or watch Wilson run away with his job!

MANderson Hernandez flies out to left.

Memo to Tim:
Try a different pitch with the guy the next time you face him.

Redding had 80 pitches his last outing, and he's close to that number now.

Redding pulls up on the stick at 6 2/3. A smattering of applause as he exits with an ERA under six.

They have a name for those. I read about it once.

What did he do? Is it like a foul and he has to keep batting?

What the hell have I stumbled into here?

AndyNandy an offensive threat?

Fair balls over walls? For US?

We're on a hellmouth, aren't we? Christ, we're playing on a frigging hellmouth.

]- P. Feliciano relieved E. Dessens
- C. Coghlan reached on bunt single
- R. Gload singled to shallow center, C. Coghlan to second
- B. Stokes relieved P. Feliciano
- S. Green relieved B. Stokes
- H. Ramirez grounded into double play shortstop to second to first, C. Coghlan to third, R. Gload out at second

Wait... what happened? Did Stokes not pitch to a batter? The only way that happens is if there's an... injury.

We need to look into that.

You know, no matter how many 2009 Mets come and go, it's opening-day Met Sean Green who looks like he's going to run away with Most Thoroughly Baked Looking 2009 Met.

Looks like just a Yahoo! typo.

Meanwhile, Pagan ball-over-wall ball.

I'm getting frightened now. This isn't funny anymore.

Stokes in for the ninth. All is well, for now.

="Benjamin Grimm"]That's not your baby, is it?

Well, if it isn't, then... wait... what are you trying to say about LWBH?

Also, all 8 starters have two hits each. MAJOR disturbance in the Force.

I'm sure they'll re-broadcast tonight.

Or to see Stokes actually get hurt during the rebroadcast.

Enjoy the win, folks. It defied predictions.

="Benjamin Grimm"]My rooting interest for this team has been reduced to hoping they avoid 90 losses.

90? We should be rooting to avoid 100. This team is honestly that bad right now.

The Mets need to go 5-28 to avoid 100 losses. (I think they should be able to do THAT!)

They have to go 15-18 to avoid 90. That will be tough.

(These numbers include today's loss to the Cubs, by the way.)

When they started to play poorly in July I said they'd go 71-91, it looks like that was optimistic.

If they win one third of their remaining games (which is a pretty bad pace) they'll end up 69-93.

I think your 71-91 seems pretty reasonable at this point.
