Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 And a Parnell induced DP keeps that number from reaching nine.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Bleeping Ankiel is just killing us today.So. With the rotation sucking rocks, do we give Pedro a call? Or give Garcia, Redding and all a shot?
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Gamecast says all four balls to Ryan Church were in the strike zone.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 WTF was Church doing there...lucky with the balk
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Only LaRussa could turn this game into a 6-pitcher outing.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Hey, LaRussa, using three guys in the ninth to protect a four-run lead? Have mercy.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Well, that was fun. What else is on?
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Can we please play a bad team soon? Are the Nationals busy?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Add St. Louis to the list of teams I wouldn't dream of trading our guys for straight-up but who nevertheless made us look like shit.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 We've not won since Santana last pitched.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Looking for the bright side...They scored a lot of runs. They scored a log of runs late. The pen has been really good so far, and this is their suck game.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Bright side...?The Nationals suck worse than us, and they are coming in for 3 games?
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 That was the most runs we've scored in a loss, so this one is clearly on the pitching. To be fair, I'm not ready to start panicing and asking the Pedro/Garcia/Redding questions yet. This was our 5th starter going up against one of the (if not THE) most potent offenses in the NL.The one thing I can take from this game is that at least the offense came to life somewhat. Only 3 LOB with 2 out and RISP (2 by DWright).I'd like to return the sweep favor to WASH over the weekend starting with a win tomorrow. It's way too early to panic, but a loss tomorrow would be far more devastating than a win would be helpful. In other words, tomorrow is a must win IMO. Our ace against the worst team in the league provides no excuses. The Mets haven't been 4 games under .500 since late 2005. We need the W tomorrow or else we're there.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Yeah they score a lot of runs , after they were down a lot of runs though I guess it's still a positive.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Bob Ojeda is going on about how the Mets need to get back to what he saw in Spring Training , namely stealing bases....
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Stealing bases???I think the starting pitchers should try to get guys out.Perez: 13 ER in 15 IPMaine: 13 ER in 15.2 IPPelfrey: 9 ER in 10 IPHernandez: 13 ER in 16 IPThat adds up to 47 ER in 56.2 innings. Three times through the rotation, all regular starters not named Santana have a combined ERA of 7.46.Yeah, blame the base stealers.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 To be fair to Bob he has now just talked about the crap starting pitching...and he's seeing cracks in the pen.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Jerry talking about maybe needing to carry an extra pitcher , due to the poor starting pitching.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Jerry is pissed , one more turn through the rotation but beyond that.....
apmorris Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 I blame me. I signed up for MLB Audio today (fockin $14.95).
