Having put up two consecutive outstanding offensive seasons at 29, nobody wants him at 31. What's gone wrong?

I remember a few years ago somebody in this forum posted a question about which non-Met we coveted the most. I, and at least a few others, said Andruw Jones.

If that question were posed again today, I suspect I'd make a different choice!

I went with #3 , his timing in that regard has been perfect. Plus he has gotten fat and lazy and looks disinterested .

#2 is almost right. He was always a lazy and indifferent player, or so it seemed, but his natural talent used to compensate for that. But no longer.

Ironically, Baseball Reference lists the most comparable to Anduw Jones at age 31 to be Sammy Sosa.

I suppose another option is that this age isn't really his age -- something that would explain the outliers on both sides of his career bracket.

I think the first four choices all apply.

From Dodger Blues

Roll your mouse over Andruw Jones to watch him "work out" in the Dominican Winter League.

I think he was juiced for years and just isn't interested and/or too lazy to do what it takes to get back into proper shape.

He's spoiled.

I always thought of Andruw as being indifferent. I gotta believe when a career tails so fast with the timing the juice is gone.

Keith talked about how in his era he used to look at players and wonder how they got so big. I suspect that Howard Johnson was corking and juicing..He got power fast and dropped off the map quickly by age 32.

At my age I could use some juice my shoulder burns
