Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Lincoln Hawk Conference, Castle Rock regionalsWeird seeding again, sorry.(2) Fletch(15) Splash (can't find a trailer... but you may enjoy this more -- warning: full buttal nudity)
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 This is a close call for me. I have to use the tie-breaker of which one I'd pop into the VCR if I had to watch one of them right now, and Splash won my vote.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 I liked 'Fletch', some funny lines but I gotta go with 'Splash'"Just me and the moron twins!""We're not really brothers."
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Two good ones--I loved the Fletch books--but I went with Tom Hanks and John Candy. Remember how happy Candy's character was when he saw that his letter was published in [u:3tt9s8hq]Penthouse[/u:3tt9s8hq]?
Farmer Ted Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 If Fletch pops up on TV, it stays on. Splash, not so much. I use Fletch lines in day-to-day interactions in the office. The peeps get what I'm saying.Got your whole fist up there, Doc?
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 I am torn. Both of these movies have cable rewatchability. Both have memorable peripheral characters (John Candy, Eugene Levy vs. George Wendt, M. Emmet Walsh) and both are funny. So, once again, we'll let Fmeat decide. And ol' Low-Brain is going for the chick from Fletch in her towel and short tennis skirt over Daryl Hannah and her annoyingly boob-blocking long hair. I don't know her real name but Mrs. Stanwick can run into my water buffalo anytime.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 I know a lot of people who love Fletch, but never saw the appeal myself. Splash! gets my vote.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 I mentioned before my indifference and/or annoyance for Chevy Chase. On the other hand I went looking for mermaids for weeks after seeing Hannah.Splash down!
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Movies about reporters, even if they bear no resemblence to what an actual reporter does, are always good in my book!
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 I'm with Fmeat here in his quest to detowel Dana Wheeler-Nicholson
Methead Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 "It's all ball bearings nowadays. Now you prepare that Fetzer valve with some 3-in-1 oil and some gauze pads. And I'm gonna need 'bout ten quarts of anti-freeze, preferably Prestone. No, no make that Quaker State."
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 FLETCH is middling.SPLASH has a naked daryl Hannah, so it gets the FMan tie-breaker.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 I've never been much of a fan of Chevy Chase or most of his movies. I enjoyed Splash so it gets my vote.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 i gotta vote for Chevy for old times sake, even though I wasn't crazy about either of these.
